Achieving enhanced stabilization and controlled release of curcumin cross-linked polydopamine particles.

Development of efficient drug delivery systems remains a critical challenge in pharmaceutical applications, necessitating novel approaches to improve drug loading and release profiles. In this study, a novel method is presented for fabricating crosslinked polydopamine particles (XPDPs) using a water/water Pickering emulsion system. The emulsion is composed of poly(ethylene glycol) and dextran, stabilized by polydopamine (PDA) particles.

Inborn Errors of Metabolism Associated With Autism Among Children: A Multicenter Study from Iran.

Objective: This study aimed to find the common inborn errors of metabolism in Iranian patients with autism spectrum disorder.

Methods: In this cross-sectional multicenter study, 105 children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder from six centers in different cities of Iran were enrolled between August, 2019 and October, 2020. Metabolic screening, including measuring plasma levels of amino acids, acylcarnitines, creatine, and guani-dinoacetate, and urinary levels of organic acids, purines, and pyrimidines was performed.

Anxiolytic-Like and Sedative Effects of (Boiss.) Alef. Flower Extract in the Laboratory Rat.

The present study was conducted to investigate the possible anxiolytic and sedative of an acute administration and 4-day repeated dosing of an aqueous (Boiss.) Alef. (EFA)in rats subjected to the elevated plus-maze (EPM), open-field, and horizontal wire tests.

Evolution in diagnosis and treatment of Legg-Calve-Perthes disease.

Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD) is an idiopathic osteonecrosis of the femoral head with variable complications and resultant deformity of the femoral head and osteoarthritis. Suggested risk factors are acetabular retroversion, obesity, latitude, hyperactivity, and coagulopathy. The most commonly applied classification is based on radiolucency in the lateral pillar of the femoral head, which is strongly correlated with the outcome.

The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) in Persian Speaking Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis.

Background: Osteoarthritis of the knee is the most common chronic joint disease that involves middle aged and elderly persons. There are different clinical instruments to quantify the health status of patients with knee osteoarthritis and one example is the WOMAC score that has been translated and adapted into different languages. The purpose of this study was cultural adaptation, validation and reliability testing of the Persian version of the WOMAC index in Iranians with knee osteoarthritis.

The spinal cord injury quality-of-life-23 questionnaire, Iranian validation study.

Background: The spinal cord injury quality-of-life questionnaire (SCIQL-23) is an instrument that has been developed for clinical follow-up as well health related quality-of-life (QOL) measurement in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). The purpose of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Persian version of SCIQL-23 in individuals with chronic SCI.

Materials And Methods: Medical outcomes study 36 item short-form health survey (SF-36) as well as the Persian version of the SCIQL-23 questionnaires applied to be used in 52 veterans with spinal cord injuries in the Orthopedic Research Center, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences from January 2011 to August 2011.

Clinical outcome of en-block resection and reconstruction with nonvascularized fibular autograft for the treatment of giant cell tumor of distal radius.

Background: Although giant cell tumor (GCT) is considered to be a primary benign bone tumor, its aggressive behavior makes its diagnosis and treatment, difficult and challenging. This is especially true in distal radius where GCT appears to be more aggressive and difficult to control locally. We report our clinical outcome of en-block resection and reconstruction with non-vascularized fibular autograft in 15 patients with distal radius GCT.

Bilateral One-half Spica Cast After Open Reduction and Pelvic Osteotomy in the Developmental Dislocation of the Hip.

Background: The prevalence of DDH ranges from 1 per1000 to 3.4 per 100 live- births. One- and-one-half hip spica cast is the conventional technique of immobilization after the open reduction with or without osteotomy.

Influencing factors on the functional level of haemophilic patients assessed by FISH.

Joint destruction in early adulthood brings the patients to the orthopaedic clinics. If a haemophilic patient becomes disabled, it shows a number of factors such as timely diagnosis, availability of appropriate treatment depending on the country, access and affordability to treatments and equally importantly the responsibility of the patient in managing self care by remaining compliant by prescribed treatment regimen. We assessed the functional level by functional independence score in haemophilia (FISH).

Quality of life and the related factors in spouses of veterans with chronic spinal cord injury.

Background: The quality of life (QOL) of caregivers of individuals with chronic spinal cord injuries may be affected by several factors. Moreover, this issue is yet to be documented fully in the literature. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the health related quality of life of spouses who act as primary caregivers of veterans with chronic spinal cord injuries in Iran.

Rare and recurrent chromosomal abnormalities and their clinical relevance in pediatric acute leukemia of south Indian population.

Background And Objectives: This cytogenetic study detects a wide variety of common, rare and novel chromosomal abnormalities in patients with hematological disorders, providing valuable diagnostic and prognostic information.

Materials And Methods: We addressed the utility of the cytogenetic technique in 50 patients of pediatric acute leukemia prospectively.

Results: Successful cultures were found in 44 patients (88%) and abnormal karyotypes in 22 (44%).

Combined study of cytogenetics and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in a tertiary cancer centre in South India.

FISH is one of the most sensitive molecular methods to detect genetic abnormalities with DNA probes. When cytogenetic studies are normal or insufficient, FISH may detect cryptic rearrangements, rare or slowly proliferative abnormal populations in non-mitotic cells.
