Targeting tumor-specific molecular alterations has shown significant clinical benefit. Molecular tumor boards (MTBs) connect cancer patients with personalized treatments and clinical trials. However, rural cancer centers often have limited access to MTB expertise.

Detection of these beetles is dependent on visual surveys, which are inefficient and labor-intensive. The identification and development of pheromone-based lures would help improve survey efforts for should it become established within the US.

In this article, we report a case of a kidney transplant recipient who was found to have highly elevated circulating donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) levels on routine serum surveillance for allograft rejection, initially without organ dysfunction or evidence of allograft rejection on biopsy. Later, for cause imaging revealed retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy and an allograft hilar mass, which was biopsied to show PTLD/diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Methods: A single-arm, open-label phase 2 trial (NCT02427841) enrolled patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma deemed to be borderline resectable or clinically node-positive from March 17, 2016 to October 5, 2019. Patients received preoperative gemcitabine 1000 mg/m and nab-paclitaxel 125 mg/m on Days 1, 8, 15, every 28 days for two cycles followed by chemoradiation with 50.

This scoping review has investigated experiences of children and parents encountering in-patient treatment for serious childhood illness, including current or potential use of technology as a support mechanism. The research questions were 1. What do children experience during illness and treatment? 2.

Theoretical, practical, ethical and legal issues pertaining to children and adolescents under the age of majority - both relating to their own use and the effects of drug use among parents or within the family - are less clear. This commentary proposes a sub-field of drug policy at the intersection of harm reduction and childhood which we refer to as 'child-centred harm reduction'.

Recognition and support for young carers has improved steadily in the past two decades; with stronger legislation and more visibility and awareness of the challenges that many of the YC face, especially with respect to their education. Recent UK-based initiatives providing toolkits and guidance for school staff have provided much needed direction for schools, to support the loosely defined statutory requirements. The aim of the current research was to hear from school staff about their experiences in identifying and supporting young carers, to better understand any enablers and barriers.

The multi-attribute method (MAM) was conceived as a single assay to potentially replace multiple single-attribute assays that have long been used in process development and quality control (QC) for protein therapeutics. MAM is rooted in traditional peptide mapping methods; it leverages mass spectrometry (MS) detection for confident identification and quantitation of many types of protein attributes that may be targeted for monitoring. While MAM has been widely explored across the industry, it has yet to gain a strong foothold within QC laboratories as a replacement method for established orthogonal platforms.

Primary repair (PR), autologous vein (AV), or cryopreserved cadaveric vein (CCV) are frequently utilized, however relative patency is not well studied.
Methods: All patients undergoing PVR between 2007-2019 at our center were identified.
Controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) liver transplants are associated with increased ischemic-type biliary complications. Microvascular thrombosis secondary to decreased donor fibrinolysis may contribute to bile duct injury. We hypothesized that cDCD donors are hypercoagulable with impaired fibrinolysis and aim to use thromboelastography to characterize cDCD coagulation profiles.

Methods: A review of patients undergoing LT for HCC between 2008 and 2018 was performed. Clinicopathologic and intraoperative characteristics associated with inferior recurrence-free (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were identified using Kaplan-Meier analysis and uni-/multi-variable Cox proportional hazards modeling.
Background: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is often incidentally diagnosed after cholecystectomy. Intra-operative biliary tract violations (BTV) have been recently associated with development of peritoneal disease (PD). The degree of BTV may be associated with PD risk, but has not been previously investigated.

Given hyperferritinemia and cytopenias are present in hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), and somatic mutations in hematopoietic cells are associated with hyperinflammatory responses (clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential, CHIP), we identified the frequency of hemophagocytosis and CHIP mutations in LT-GVHD. We reviewed bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, quantified blood/marrow chimerism, and performed next-generation sequencing (NGS) with a targeted panel of genes relevant to myeloid malignancies, CHIP, and BMF.

Successful implementation of MAM as a purity-indicating assay requires new peak detection (NPD) of potential process- and/or product-related impurities. The NPD interlaboratory study described herein was carried out by the MAM Consortium to report on the industry-wide performance of NPD using predigested samples of the NISTmAb Reference Material 8671.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAliphatic polycarbonates have gained increased attention as biomaterials largely owing to their biocompatibility and tunable degradation. Moreover, the ability to introduce functional handles in the polymer backbone through careful design of cyclic carbonate monomers or copolymerization with other biodegradable polymers has significantly contributed to the interest in exploiting this class of materials for biomedical applications. Such investigations have enabled their utility to be expanded to a wide variety of applications in the biomedical field, from drug delivery to tissue regeneration and the design of vascular grafts.

Flight risk assessment tools (FRATs) aid pilots in evaluating risk arising from the flight environment. Current FRATs are subjective, based on linear analyses and subject-matter expert interpretation of flight factor/risk relationships. However, a 'flight system' is complex with non-linear relationships between variables and emergent outcomes.

This study is an evaluation of the use of a N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM)-based x-ray CT polymer gel dosimetry (PGD) system in the measurement of deformed dose. This work also compares dose that is measured by the gel dosimetry system to dose calculated by a novel deformable dose accumulation algorithm, defDOSXYZnrc, that uses direct voxel tracking. Deformable gels were first irradiated using a single 3.

It is composed of a near-full-length RSV F glycoprotein, with an intact membrane domain, formulated into a stable nanoparticle with PS80 detergent. To understand the structural basis for the efficacy of the vaccine, a comprehensive study of its structure and hydrodynamic properties in solution was performed.

Recent demonstrations have shown a proof-of-principle application of linac-integrated cone beam CT-imaged (LI-CBCT) PGDs for 3D dose verification. LI-CBCT offers advantages over previous CT based PGD, including close to real-time imaging of the irradiated dosimeter, as well as the ability to maintain the dosimeter in the same physical location for irradiation and imaging, thereby eliminating spatial errors due to dosimeter re-positioning for read-out that may occur for other systems.
