[A CASE OF EOSINOPHILIC GASTROENTERITIS FOUND BY PICA DURING ORAL IMMUNOTHERAPY].

Eosinophilic esophagitis has been reported as a complication of oral immunotherapy (OIT), but there are only a few reports of eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) occurring after OIT. EGE causes eosinophil infiltration into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and is characterized by various digestive symptoms. We report the case of a 6-year-old boy with EGE.

Associations Between Metal Levels in Whole Blood and IgE Concentrations in Pregnant Women Based on Data From the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

Background: Metal exposures could possibly affect allergic responses in pregnant women, although no studies have yet shown a clear relationship between the two, and such exposures might also affect the development of allergic diseases in children.

Methods: We investigated the relationship between metal concentrations in whole blood and immunoglobulin E (IgE; total and specific) in 14,408 pregnant women who participated in the Japan Environment and Children's Study. The subjects submitted self-administered questionnaires, and blood samples were collected from them twice, specifically, during the first trimester and again during the second/third trimester.

Prevalence of Congenital Anomalies in the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

Background: The aims of the present report were to estimate the prevalence of congenital anomalies (CAs) among infants in Japan using data from the Japan Environment and Children's Study (JECS) and to evaluate the validity of CA classification within JECS.

Methods: Data on CAs were collected at delivery and at age 1 month from the medical records of 101,825 infants at 15 regional centers. The analyses focused on 61 CAs, selected on the basis of reported associations with environmental exposure.

Regional differences in infant 25-Hydroxyvitamin D: Pilot study of the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

Background: In recent years, a resurgence in the number of infants with vitamin D deficiency has been noted. In addition to seasonal differences in exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, regional differences in dietary habits and lifestyles may affect susceptibility to vitamin D deficiency. No studies have been conducted, however, on infants in multiple regions of Japan to determine the extent of differences in vitamin D status.

Two-step egg introduction for prevention of egg allergy in high-risk infants with eczema (PETIT): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

Background: Evidence is accumulating that early consumption is more beneficial than is delayed introduction as a strategy for primary prevention of food allergy. However, allergic reactions caused by early introduction of such solid foods have been a problematic issue. We investigated whether or not early stepwise introduction of eggs to infants with eczema combined with optimal eczema treatment would prevent egg allergy at 1 year of age.

[THE JAPANESE VERSION OF TOPICOP SCALE AMONG PATIENTS WITH ATOPIC DERMATITIS: A TRANSLATION AND FEASIBILITY STUDY].

Background: The TOPICOP scale was developed previously for atopic dermatitis patients. It comprises 12 questions to assess patients' worries and beliefs about topical corticosteroids. The aim of this study was to translate TOPICOP into Japanese and evaluate its feasibility.
