Introduction: Unstable abdominal trauma patients should be treated with emergent laparotomy. However, few studies have evaluated the association between time to surgery and survival in these patients. We aimed to assess the influence of time to laparotomy on outcomes in blunt and penetrating unstable abdominal trauma patients.

Acute appendicitis (AA) in older individuals remains understudied. We aimed to assess AA characteristics in patients older than 60 years and evaluate the impact of comorbidities. This retrospective study analyzed data from the American National Inpatient Sample between 2016 and 2019 to compare AA characteristics in patients younger and older than 60 years.

The effect of annealing temperature on the microstructure, defects and optical properties of ZnO thin films are investigated using sol-gel based spin coating method for a range of annealing temperatures from 200C to 500C. The correlation among the microstructure, defects, impurity content and the optical band gap of films of thickness about 10-12 nm is elucidated. The particle size increases and the optical band gap reduces with the annealing temperature.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) main protease (S-CoV-2 Mpro) is one of the main targets in designing antiviral against SARS-CoV-2. contains several triterpenoids, polyacetylenes, and benzoic ester derivative with various biological activities including anti-inflammation and antiviral. Triterpenoids from could act as inhibitors of S-CoV-2 Mpro.

The difference in the defect structures produced by different ion masses in a tungsten lattice is investigated using 80 MeV Au7+ ions and 10 MeV B3+ ions. The details of the defects produced by ions in recrystallized tungsten foil samples are studied using transmission electron microscopy. Dislocations of type b = 1/2[111] and [001] were observed in the analysis.

Cystic fibrosis has been diagnosed during life in three South Indian infants on the basis of characteristic clinical features and a positive sweat test. The patients were respectively 81 days, 23 days and 6 months old. All three presented with the rare characteristic triad of gross oedema, hypoproteinaemia and moderate to severe anaemia; it is described for the first time from South India.
