Multi-disciplinary team approach for pediatric hemimegalencephaly: Insights from a single institutional case series.

Recent genetic studies have revealed that hemimegalencephaly (HME) is a multi-system disorder associated with germline or mosaic variants within the PI3K-mTOR-GATOR1 signaling pathways. Patients with HME typically develop drug-resistant epilepsy necessitating extensive evaluation, hemispherectomy, and long-term management. We describe the role of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) for the diagnosis and management of recent patients with HME at UCLA who underwent hemispherectomy.

Developing content for a mHealth intervention to promote postpartum retention in prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission programs and early infant diagnosis of HIV: a qualitative study.

Background: Maternal attendance at postnatal clinic visits and timely diagnosis of infant HIV infection are important steps for prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. We aimed to use theory-informed methods to develop text messages targeted at facilitating these steps.

Methods: We conducted five focus group discussions with health workers and women attending antenatal, postnatal, and PMTCT clinics to explore aspects of women's engagement in postnatal HIV care and infant testing.

Teaching in relationship: the impact on faculty of teaching "the Healer's Art".

Background: Medical teachers report both positive and negative experiences, but these impacts are not well understood. In particular, the experience of faculty in relationship-centered education is unknown.

Purposes: We sought to assess the benefits to teachers of the Healer's Art, a popular international medical school elective course.
