The right-handed participants tonically or phasically abducted the index finger, while they maintained at rest or tonic abduction of the little finger. The enslaved response of the tonically contracting little finger abductor to the tonic abduction of the index finger was greater than the response of the same muscle at rest in the nonpianists.
