Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to analyze how various coping strategies relate to demographics, perceived stress levels, and hair cortisol among socioeconomically marginalized parents, as well as whether these coping strategies mediate the relationship between perceived stress and hair cortisol levels.
  • The research found that coping strategies varied with factors such as age, ethnicity, and education, and that parents tended to use more emotion-focused and avoidant coping when stress increased, while problem-focused coping did not change significantly.
  • The findings suggest that promoting adaptive emotion-focused coping strategies could help these parents better manage significant stressors related to food, housing, and income insecurity, although more research is needed for conclusive results.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of main virulence genes in Helicobacter pylori strains from 116 patients with peptic ulcers (41 cases) and nonulcer diseases (75) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with pure cultures and to compare the results with those by multiplex PCR in 39 H. pylori-positive gastric biopsies in another center in Sofia, Bulgaria. Strain susceptibility to amoxicillin, metronidazole, and clarithromycin was determined by agar dilution method.
