Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a multifactorial, chronic disease that affects approximately 1.5 million people in the United States [1]. It presents with inflammation of the intestine with unknown etiology and its two main forms are Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).
