Background/aim: Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (CCC) is associated with a poor prognosis and is resistant to chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognosis of CCC in Mie prefecture and to identify poor prognostic factors.
Patients And Methods: In this multi-center retrospective study, we analyzed the data of patients with CCC between February 2012 and December 2020.
Although various perinatal outcomes in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pregnancies have been reported, the fetal and neonatal consequences of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection remain unclear. Several reports of miscarriages and stillbirths have been recorded, but vertical transmission by SARS-CoV-2 is considered very rare, and the cause remains unknown. We report a case of a 22-year-old uncomplicated Japanese woman infected with SARS-CoV-2 during the second trimester, resulting in intrauterine fetal death due to placental insufficiency associated with COVID-19 placentitis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The Proteus syndrome is characterized by the overgrowth of skin, connective tissue, brain, and other tissues. It has been hypothesized that the syndrome is caused by somatic mosaicism for a mutation that is lethal in the nonmosaic state.
Methods: We performed exome sequencing of DNA from biopsy samples obtained from patients with the Proteus syndrome and compared the resultant DNA sequences with those of unaffected tissues obtained from the same patients.
Objective: To develop a disease-specific instrument to measure the quality of life in patients with Ménière's disease and to assess quality-of-life outcomes after endolymphatic sac decompression.
Study Design: Retrospective survey.
Patients: Patients with Ménière's disease who underwent endolymphatic sac decompression from June 1996 to June 2001, after failing a course of medical management.
