Hibernomas, especially located in the mediastinum, are extremely rare benign tumors, which are important to consider in the differential diagnosis of a heterogeneously enhancing mass with areas of fat attenuation on imaging of an often incidentally discovered mass. Other common possibilities in the differential include malignant tumors, such as liposarcoma, hence histopathology is usually required to confirm the diagnosis. Hibernomas often follow the distribution of sites of persistence of brown fat in adults, and intrathoracic locations are unusual.

Purpose: To compare plain radiographs and computed tomography (CT) when determining the narrowest diameter of the medullary canal of the distal phalanx.

Methods: A database review identified 48 patients (23 male, 25 female) who underwent a CT scan of the hand and plain radiographs of the same hand. Using digital imaging software, the smallest diameter of the medullary canal was measured for each finger (index, middle, ring, little) on CT and on radiographs.

Baló's concentric sclerosis is a primary inflammatory central nervous system demyelinating disease that is considered a rare, radiographically and pathologically distinct variant of multiple sclerosis. Baló's concentric sclerosis is characterized by alternating rings of demyelinated and myelinated axons, and it is most frequently diagnosed postmortem by autopsy or, more recently, by magnetic resonance imaging without pathologic verification. This report is of a case of Baló's concentric sclerosis in which the patient presented with left-sided focal sensorimotor deficits.

Background And Objectives: There is currently debate about the optimal timing and frequency of mammography follow-up after breast-conserving therapy (BCT). The purpose of this study was to determine if 6-month intervals for the first 2 years following BCT offer benefit over annual screening.

Methods: Three hundred ninety-nine patients who had lumpectomies between 1997 and 2009 and who were followed for at least 2 years with mammography were selected.
