A survey of attitudes toward homosexuality in Hong Kong chinese medical students.

Background: Homosexuality is now considered an alternative lifestyle occurring with some regularity as a variant of human sexuality, rather than a pathological disorder. It is important to understand the attitudes of medical professionals toward homosexuality, as their attitudes may influence their approach to gay men and lesbians as patients. It is also important to understand the current attitudes of medical students who will be the future generation of health care providers.

Incidence of chest wall paresthesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery for primary spontaneous pneumothorax.

Objective: Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is an established treatment for recurrent or complicated primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP). However, a proportion of patients still complains of chronic pain or discomfort after VATS pleurodesis. We aimed to investigate if paresthesia is a distinct component of the post-operative discomfort in patients receiving VATS for PSP.

Allelotyping of gastrointestinal nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma.

Nasal-type natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKL) is a rare but distinct malignancy that often involves the mid-facial region and the gastrointestinal tract. This study is the first genome-wide allelotyping analysis on this rare lymphoma. We applied 382 microsatellite markers covering loci which spanned 22 autosomes to screen for allelic imbalances (AI) in six intestinal NKL.
