The aberrant right gastric vein (ARGV) is a rare anatomical variation. It can be responsible for unexplained hyperdensities in the hepatic parenchyma on CT scans, also known as third inflow effects. We present two cases sharing similar vascular pattern and slightly different imagistic findings on ultrasound and computer-tomography performed studies.

Objectives: To evaluate the structural and inflammatory features of NCGS compared to controls and coeliac disease (CeD) with milder enteropathy (Marsh I-II). Methods: Well-oriented biopsies of 262 control cases with normal gastroscopy and histologic findings, 261 CeD, and 175 NCGS biopsies from 9 contributing countries were examined.

Design: The study comprised three adult cohorts. Cohort 1: 740 patients assessed in the specialist CD clinic at a UK centre; cohort 2: 532 patients with low suspicion for CD referred for upper GI endoscopy at a UK centre; cohort 3: 145 patients with raised tTG titres from multiple international sites.
Background/aims: The relationship between Helicobacter pylori and celiac disease (CD) remains controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and risk factors for H. pylori infection among children diagnosed with CD.

METHODS We conducted a systematic search of MEDLINE/PubMed and seven other databases through January 1990 to March 2017 for published studies that evaluated the association between PPIs and CDI. Adult case-control and cohort studies providing information on the association between PPI therapy and the development of CDI were included.

In this multicentre study, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off between normal and CD (Marsh III lesion) duodenal mucosa, based on IEL counts on >400 mucosal biopsy specimens.
Design: The study was designed at the International Meeting on Digestive Pathology, Bucharest 2015.

Unlabelled: Recent changes in the epidemiology of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) include the identification of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as a group at risk in comparison to the general population.
Aim: To identify the incidence and risk factors for CDI among patients with IBD.
Material And Methods: Case-control study of 78 patients diagnosed with IBD, hospitalized at the Iasi Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology between January 2012 and -July 2014.
Carcinoid tumor is a slow-growing type of neuroendocrine tumor, originating in the enterochromaffin cells and secreting mainly serotonin. Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are found throughout the intestinal tract, the appendix and terminal ileum being the most common locations, and are classified by site of origin and by degree of differentiation, with well-differentiated lesions representing those tumors formerly referred to as carcinoid tumors. The clinical symptoms are characterized by flushing, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and/or bronchial constriction and occur almost exclusively in patients with liver metastases due to the release of bioactive peptides and amines directly into the systemic circulation.

Aim: To evaluate the experience of a single coeliac center over a 10-year-observational period.
Material And Methods: Between January 2003 and December 2013 a total of 195 consecutive patients admitted with celiac disease were tested by multiple duodenal biopsies, anti-tissue transglutaminase and anti-gliadin antibodies, and baseline demographic, clinical, biological and immunological parameters.
Results: Patients were divided into two major groups according to the clinical features and number of signs and symptoms present upon admission: gastrointestinal (131, 67.
Little research has empirically addressed the relationships among parental knowledge of child development, parental attunement, parental expectations, and child independence in predicting the social competence of infants and toddlers with special health care needs. We used baseline data from the Strengthening Families Project, a prevention intervention study that tested Bavolek's Nurturing Program for Parents and Their Children with Health Challenges to explore the roles of these variables in predicting social competence in infants and toddlers with special health care needs. Bivariate relationships among the study variables were explored and used to develop and test a model for predicting social competence among these children.

Method: In a cross-sectional study, 45 youth with HED (77% males, mean age 9.
Purpose: To determine the incidence of ophthalmologic disorders in children with autism and related disorders.
Design: Retrospective chart review. Four hundred and seven children diagnosed with autism or a related disorder between 1998 and 2006.
Purpose: To investigate the potential influence of additional copy number variants in patients with 15q24 rearrangements and the possible underlying mechanisms for these rearrangements.
Methods: Oligonucleotide-based chromosomal microarray analyses were performed, and the results were subsequently confirmed by fluorescence in situ hybridization analyses. Long-range polymerase chain reaction amplification and DNA sequencing analysis were used for breakpoint junction sequencing.
African American children with autism are seriously under-represented in existing genetic registries and biomedical research studies of autism. We estimated the number of African American children with autism in the St. Louis region using CDC surveillance data and present the outcomes of a concerted effort to enroll approximately one-third of that population into either of two large national genetic autism registries.

The axillary dissection is part of the breast cancer surgical protocol. We have cytologically analyzed the axillary lavage fluid obtained during 67 modified radical mastectomy. Our results showed good correlation between the node status, histological grading and the cytological diagnosis of the axillary lavage fluid.

Histopathology identified in some cases associated benign and malign lesions. Atypical hyperplasia is considered significant risk factor for malignancy.
