Periodontitis presents as a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gingival tissues and structures surrounding the tooth. However, the existing approaches for periodontitis do not allow complete control of the disease. In this regard, an active search is being carried out both in preclinical and clinical studies for new approaches based, among other things, on nutraceuticals.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis remains a relevant problem of the healthcare system with an unfavorable prognosis for patients due to progressive fibrous remodeling of the pulmonary parenchyma. Starting with the damage of the epithelial lining of alveoli, pulmonary fibrosis is implemented through a cascade of complex mechanisms, the crucial of which is the TGF-β/SMAD-mediated pathway, involving various cell populations. Considering that a number of the available drugs (pirfenidone and nintedanib) have only limited effectiveness in slowing the progression of fibrosis, the search and justification of new approaches aimed at regulating the immune response, cellular aging processes, programmed cell death, and transdifferentiation of cell populations remains relevant.

Periodontitis is one of the most common dental diseases with a range of treatment approaches, including pathogenetically reasonable use of various host immune modulators. One such approach is the use of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in combination with low-dose aspirin. This systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to compare the standard treatment alone and adjunctive use of omega-3 PUFAs in combination with low-dose aspirin with or without standard treatment in patients with periodontitis.

Morphological data on heart damage and its mechanisms due to extremely severe course of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are limited, as well as data on the correlation of damage and expression of vitamin D receptors (VDRs). In this study, we analyzed a series of myocardial samples obtained during postmortem autopsy of 48 critically ill patients with COVID-19 who died with SARS-CoV-2-associated pneumonia. The purpose of the study was to evaluate immunohistochemical VDR expression in the myocardium.

Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata (LPD) is a benign disease characterized by the presence of multiple small nodules on the omentum, parietal, and visceral peritoneum. It corresponds to leiomyoma and often resembles metastases of malignant tumors; however, with favorable prognosis. Here we describe a 46-year-old woman, diagnosed with LPD, to demonstrate the etiopathogenesis of the developed leiomyomatosis following endoscopic extirpation of the uterus with the use of a power morcellator.
