[Post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome. A review based on current evidence].

Introduction: Pathophysiology of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is multifactorial. Recent investigations have associated episodes of infectious gastroenteritis with development of IBS. This condition is named post-infectious IBS (PI-IBS).
