Article Synopsis
  • Pilocytic astrocytomas are the most common low-grade glioma in children, and this study reviews the top 100 most cited publications to understand their molecular and clinical features.
  • The analysis found that half of the articles were basic science, a third clinical, and a smaller portion were reviews; most citations were for research on BRAF/MAPK pathways and treatment options.
  • The study highlights an upward trend in research over the past 30 years, with a focus on targeted therapies and identifying new cellular pathways for future investigations.
