Objective: This study aimed to address the lack of comparative analyses of newly developed bioceramic materials by examining the chemical composition, thermodynamic profile, and microscopic surface features of three bioceramic putties: EndoSequence BC Root Repair Material Fast Set Putty (ESRRM-FS), BIO-C Repair (BCR), and Cera Putty (CP).

Methods: Samples of each of the three bioceramic putty obtained directly from manufacturers were prepared for analysis of physicochemical composition and microscopic features by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imagery, and energy-disper-sive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The data obtained was qualitatively and statistically analysed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of high temperatures on seven types of endodontic sealers to assess their surface features, chemical makeup, and thermal properties.
  • The research used advanced techniques like scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis, alongside microscopic methods, to analyze the sealers' responses to heat.
  • Results indicated that while AH Plus and GuttaFlow BioSeal remained stable under thermal stress, five other sealers showed significant degradation, implying that the first two may be preferable for thermal endodontic procedures.

Purpose: The aim of the present in vitro study was to microscopically evaluate and describe the deformation of Lindeman surgical burs and the bone surface roughness after repeated osteotomies and sterilization cycles.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-one Lindeman surgical burs were analyzed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the damage of the bur's integrity after 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 osteotomies on bovine ribs. Eighteen bone specimens were obtained after osteotomy for roughness analysis using profilometry.

Introduction: The inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) is the most common anesthetic technique used on mandibular teeth during root canal treatment. Its success in the presence of preoperative inflammation is still controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and accuracy of three diagnostic tests used to predict IANB failure in symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP).

Objective: This double-blind clinical study, conducted at the University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, was designed to compare the efficacy of two commercially available dentifrices for the control of supragingival plaque and gingivitis.

Methods: Qualifying adult male and female subjects from the San Juan, Puerto Rico area were randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups: 1) a commercially available dentifrice containing 0.3% triclosan, 2.
