Background And Aims: Celiac disease (CeD) affects 1-2% of the world's population. The aim of this study was to relate the incidence of CeD-related serological markers to symptoms, pathologies, and environmental exposure to wheat flour, given the number of flour mills present in the region.
Materials & Methods: Serum samples were collected from 537 inhabitants from a rural city.
Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to investigate the structural and energetic features related to the direct binding of a short interfering RNA (siRNA) molecule on a silica nanoparticle functionalized with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) groups, immersed in a sodium chloride aqueous solution at physiological concentration. Three different grafting densities of APTES were evaluated, namely, 2.7, 1.

Collagen derived materials offer distinct advantages over synthetic polymers, considering their natural inherited biocompatibility and mechanical properties. However, because of the extraction procedure, the latter frequently need to be enhanced through the use of different crosslinking methods. Aldehydes are often used for the stabilization of biomaterials but the introduction of crosslinkers slightly alters the protein's surface reactivity hence calling for new biocompatibility studies.
