Evaluation of enamel matrix derivative as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the adjunctive use of enamel matrix derivative (EMD) on periodontal healing following nonsurgical periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing - SRP).

Material And Methods: The study was performed as an intraindividual, longitudinal trial of 3 months duration with a double-blinded, split-mouth, controlled, and randomized design. Twenty-two patients with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis were enrolled in the study.
