Background: Pregnant patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) face increased risk of preeclampsia and preterm delivery, yet data is limited data regarding degree of risk and impact of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) on gestational age at delivery.
Objectives: To examine HDP risk and impact on delivery timing in patients with CVD.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients >18 years old who delivered between 10/1/2015 and 12/31/2020 using the Premier Healthcare Database.
The patho-mechanism of apolipoprotein variant, APOE4, the strongest genetic risk for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) and longevity, remains unclear. APOE's neighboring gene, TOMM40 (mitochondria protein transport channel), is associated with brain trauma outcome and aging-related cognitive decline, however its role in AD APOE4-independently is controversial. We report that TOMM40 is prone to transcription readthrough into APOE that can generate spliced TOMM40-APOE mRNA chimera (termed T9A2) detected in human neurons and other cells and tissues.

Educational Activity And Setting: A student-driven TOC documentation process was implemented within an inpatient family medicine advanced pharmacy practice experience.
To assess changes in Emotional Intelligence Appraisal (EIA) scores following the COVID-19 pandemic for pharmacy students within a voluntary cocurricular leadership development program. Participants from the class of 2021 (pandemic group) completed an EIA self-assessment near the beginning of the leadership program in August 2019 (pre-pandemic) and at the end of the program in July 2020 (during peak first-wave COVID-19 activity) and wrote an accompanying self-reflection. To determine changes in students' emotional intelligence potentially attributable to COVID-19, differences in EIA scores from the pandemic group were compared to the pooled results of previous program cohorts (classes of 2017-2019).

We demonstrate that depletion of BM resident Mϕs increases HSC proliferation as well as the pool of quiescent HSCs. At the same time, during bacterial infection where BM resident Mϕs are selectively increased we observe a decrease in HSC numbers.

During Ehrlichia muris infection, TI IgM secretion in the spleen was BAFF dependent, and antibody-mediated BAFF neutralization led to an impairment of IgM-mediated host defense. The failure of TI plasmablasts to secrete IgM was not a consequence of alterations in their generation, survival, or early differentiation, since all occurred normally in infected mice following BAFF neutralization.

Our studies have used a murine model of ehrlichiosis, an emerging tick-born disease, to address how infection impacts hematopoietic function.
