Background: There are sex differences in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) relevant to prognosis where women experience greater mortality at relatively higher LVEF compared to men, yet mechanistic understanding of this adverse prognosis is limited. Women with suspected ischemia with no obstructive coronary disease (INOCA) develop heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), yet contributors to LVEF remain largely unknown.

Wearable devices have generally been rigid due to their reliance on silicon-based technologies, while future wearables will utilize flexible components for example transistors within microprocessors to manage data. Two-dimensional (2D) semiconducting flakes have yet to be investigated in fiber transistors but can offer a route toward high-mobility, biocompatible, and flexible fiber-based devices. Background Women with ischemia and no obstructive coronary artery disease are increasingly recognized and found to be at risk for major adverse cardiovascular events. Methods and Results In 214 women with suspected ischemia and no obstructive coronary artery disease who completed baseline and 1-year follow-up vasodilatory stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, we investigated temporal trends in angina (Seattle Angina Questionnaire [SAQ]), myocardial perfusion reserve index, blood pressure, and left ventricular (LV) remodeling and function from baseline to 1-year follow-up and explored associations between these different parameters. We observed concordant positive trends in 4/5 SAQ domains, SAQ-7, myocardial perfusion reserve index, blood pressure, LV mass, and LV mass-to-volume ratio.

We define the partial scattering cross section and partial efficiencies to demonstrate that the total scattering is the sum of two roughly equal parts: approximately half from the forward scattering lobe due to 2D diffraction by the projected sphere and half from the 2D to 3D diffraction crossover. The first part is at angles such that θ≲λ/D, a result previously known, which can be quite small for large particles. The second part is in a new regime we call the "hump," visible in q-space, which to a good approximation contains the other half of the scattered light.

An apparatus was designed and assembled to measure scattered light in the range of 180°±6° where enhanced backscattering, the cause of a glory, occurs. The apparatus was calibrated and tested using Fraunhofer circular aperture diffraction, angle of incidence correction, and a diffuse reflector. People with a long-term urinary catheter living in the community often experience catheter-related issues, however, the frequency and extent of these issues has not been well described in the literature. A survey on issues clients (n = 62) experience with their long-term urinary catheter was conducted in one community health service. The majority (79%) had experienced at least one issue in the last two years, 62% had urinary tract infections, 33% had an emergency department visit and 29% had leakage.

The aim of this study was to investigate the adhesive properties of an in-house aminopropyltrimethoxysilane-methylenebisacrylamide (APTMS-MBA) siloxane system and compare them with a commercially available adhesive, n-butyl cyanoacrylate (nBCA). The ability of the material to perform as a soft tissue adhesive was established by measuring the physical (bond strength, curing time) and biological (cytotoxicity) properties of the adhesives on cartilage. Complementary physical techniques, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman and infrared imaging, enabled the mode of action of the adhesive to the cartilage surface to be determined.
