Photochemistry of the (n-BuN)[Pt(NO)] complex in acetonitrile was studied by means of stationary photolysis and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. The primary photochemical process was found to be an intramolecular electron transfer followed by an escape of an NO radical to the solution bulk. The spectra of two successive Pt(III) intermediates were detected in the microsecond time domain, and their spectral and kinetic characteristics were determined.

The photochemistry of the OsIVCl62- complex in ethanol was studied by means of stationary photolysis, nanosecond laser flash photolysis, ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy and quantum chemistry. The direction of the photochemical process was found to be wavelength-dependent. Irradiation in the region of the d-d and LMCT bands results in the photosolvation (with the wavelength-dependent quantum yield) and photoreduction of Os(iv) to Os(iii), correspondingly.

Article Synopsis
  • Trans,cis,cis-[RuCl2(DMSO)2(H2O)2] (1a) complexes show light-induced toxicity and are created when trans-[RuCl2(DMSO)4] dissolves in water.
  • The study of 1a’s photochemistry utilized techniques like ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy and laser flash photolysis, revealing that the initial reaction involves a DMSO ligand being swapped for a water molecule.
  • This ligand exchange process is complex, featuring several Ru(ii) intermediates and has two proposed mechanisms influenced by the wavelength of light used (308 nm vs 430 nm).

Quantum chemical calculations (CASSCF and XMCQDPT level of theory, IMCP-SR1 and SBKJC basis sets) of the structures and electronic absorption spectra of the OsIVCl5(H2O)- and OsIVCl5(OH)2- complexes, which are the products of OsIVCl62- photoaquation, were performed. The satisfactory agreement between the experimental and calculated spectra was achieved using both triplet and quintet manifolds. The dissociation of the aquacomplex with the formation of the hydroxocomplex was explained by the thermochemical data.

It is known that both cis,fac-[RuCl2(DMSO)3(H2O)] (1a) and trans,cis,cis-[RuCl2(DMSO)2(H2O)2] (2a) complexes, which are formed on the dissolution of trans and cis-isomers of [RuCl2(DMSO)4] in water, demonstrate light-induced anticancer activity. The first stage of 1a photochemistry is its transformation to 2a occurring with a rather high quantum yield, 0.64 ± 0.

The photoaquation of the OsCl complex was studied by means of stationary photolysis, nanosecond laser flash photolysis and ultrafast kinetic spectroscopy. The OsCl(OH) complex was found to be the only reaction product. The quantum yield of photoaquation is rather low and wavelength-dependent.

Aim: To study relationships between the indicators of serum lipid composition (SLC) and the markers of acetylator (energy) status (AS) in women with coronary heart disease (CHD), stable exertional angina (SEA), metabolic syndrome (MS), type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) (according to the data multivariate correlation analysis).

Subjects And Methods: One hundred and eight women aged 54.9 +/- 0.

Lipid-protein relationships were studied in 155 men and women (mean age 48/9 +/ -0.6 years) with CHD (stable angina of effort) and MS. The frequency of concomitant arterial hypertension in men/women was 100%, aortic atherosclerosis 49.

We compared the prevalence and duration of action of common risk factors (RF) of arterial hypertension (AH), smoking, alcohol abuse, excess consumption of animal fats and carbohydrates, psychoemotional stress, inherited risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), AH, diabetes mellitus (DM), overweight/obesity, hypercholesterolemia (HC) and hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) contributing to combined cardiovascular pathology. In addition, RF of myocardial infarction (MI) were elucidated. The study involved 190 patients with CHD including 82 (43.

An open-label, 60-day trial was conducted in 75 newly diagnosed tuberculosis (TB) patients to assess the adjunctive effect of the oral immunomodulator Dzherelo with standard anti-TB chemotherapy (ATT) consisting of izoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide and streptomycin (HRZS) administered as directly observed therapy (DOT). Group 1 (n = 28) with cavitary TB and group 2 (n = 17) with infiltrating pulmonary TB received 50 drops of Dzherelo twice daily in addition to HRZS. Group 3 (n = 30), which served as a control, received ATT only.

The role of chronic colitis in pathogenesis of Hirschsprung's disease was studied ultrastructurally and morphometrically. Morphological features of chronic colitis were revealed by examination of full-layers biopsies and excised fragments of the colon in 26 children aged from 2 to 14 years with Hirschsprung's disease. Atrophic-sclerotic form of colitis develops in various disturbances of colo-rectal innervation.

The papers deals with changes in the levels of lipid peroxidation products in patients with stable angina of effort, which occurred with intravenous helium-neon blood irradiation. The therapy was highly effective in patients with lower functional classes and persons with normal circulation, resulting in a reduction in lipid peroxidation intensity. Predictors are recommended to determine the efficiency and expediency of laser therapy in patients with coronary heart disease.

The authors present an analysis of dynamic five-year follow-up of 141 patients with freshly detected destructive pulmonary tuberculosis that received treatment with isoniaside and rifampicin in combination with other drugs. It was found that reactivation of pulmonary tuberculosis with the use of rifampicin is observed in 11 +/- 5% of patients and is accompanied by phenomena of not infrequently marked intoxication and chest symptoms and complaints. The importance of timing the main course of chemotherapy (not less than 12 months) and regular prophylactic autumn-spring course of treatment in the prophylaxis of reactivations of pulmonary tuberculosis.

The obtained experience of echocardiography use in wide population examinations demonstrate that it is of practical value for diagnosis of lesions of heart valves or other heart structures (about 10% of pathology in grown-up population). The efficacy of the method could be highly increased (from 37% to 81%) if the investigation was performed in patients with murmurs above the heart area, with cardiovascular diseases in anamnesis and with marked ECG alterations. Children and adolescents exhibited mainly various types of mitral valve prolapse.
