Background: In familial pulmonary fibrosis (FPF) at least two biological relatives are affected. Patients with FPF have diverse clinical features.
Research Question: We aimed to characterize demographic and clinical features, re-evaluate high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scans and histopathology of surgical lung biopsies, assess survival and investigate the suitability of risk prediction models for FPF patients.
Introduction: Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (AUGIB) is a common and life-threatening condition. This study aimed to compare the causes and long-term outcomes of AUGIB over two distinct periods in the last 15 years.
Methods: This population-based study included consecutive patients who underwent emergency upper endoscopy for visible bleeding in 2006 and 2016.
Background: Older patients with simultaneous main bile duct and gallbladder stones, especially those with high-surgical risks, create a common clinical dilemma. After successful endoscopic removal of main bile duct stones, should these patients undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy to reduce risk of recurrent biliary events? In this population-based cohort study, we report long-term outcomes of a wait-and-see strategy after successful endoscopic extraction of main bile duct stones.
Methods: Consecutive patients 75 years or older undergoing endoscopic stone extraction without subsequent cholecystectomy in two tertiary academic centers between January 2010 and December 2018 were included.
Aim: This integrative review aimed to describe the perceptions of the quality of care of older patients (aged 65 and above) living with cancer in acute-care settings.
Methods: We identified relevant research suitable for inclusion criteria through systematic searches of the PubMed®, EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier®, Scopus® and Web of Science® databases. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework and the Synthesis Without Meta-analysis (SWiM) guidelines were used to conduct the research and report the results.
The aim was to investigate, among pregnant women, (1) the use of food supplements and (2) the awareness of food supplement recommendations and beliefs about food supplement use in four European countries: Finland, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The participants ( = 1804) completed an online questionnaire with predefined statements. Daily intakes of vitamins and minerals were calculated using uploaded pictures or weblinks of the supplement packages.

We conducted a 3-arm, prospective, double-blind, pilot, randomized, controlled trial comparing DTxP with a sham placebo comparator and an open-label standard care. Participants were enrolled for 6 to 8 weeks, after which, the standard care control arm were rerandomized to receive either the DTxP or sham placebo.

We examined the effectiveness of evidence-based telecoaching delivered via videoconferencing to people requesting mental health services during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We analyzed data from 1,228 employees (mean age = 35 ± 8 years; 67.

However, many patients struggle to use their inhalers correctly, with the resultant reduction in therapeutic benefit. Consequently, appropriate inhaler choice is important to maximize clinical benefit.

Three different Salmeterol/fluticasone Easyhaler test products (Orion Pharma, Finland) were compared against the reference product Seretide Diskus DPI (GlaxoSmithKline, United Kingdom) to study whether any of the test products are bioequivalent with the reference.
Methods: Open and randomized pharmacokinetic four-period crossover study on 65 healthy volunteers was performed in a single center to compare the lung deposition and total systemic exposure of salmeterol and fluticasone propionate after administration of single doses (two inhalations of 50/500 μg/inhalation strength) in fasting conditions.
Background: During a field course on spider taxonomy and ecology at the University of Helsinki, the authors had the opportunity to sample four plots with a dual objective of both teaching on field methods, spider identification and behaviour and uncovering the spider diversity patterns found in the southern coastal forests of Hankoniemi, Finland. As an ultimate goal, this field course intended to contribute to a global project that intends to uncover spider diversity patterns worldwide. With that purpose, a set of standardised methods and procedures was followed that allow the comparability of obtained data with numerous other projects being conducted across all continents.

Objectives: Our aim was to characterize structural abnormalities associated with new BPD and to evaluate whether the severity of high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) changes is associated with lung function.
Methods: HRCT scans were performed on 21 schoolchildren with a history of new BPD (mild, n = 9; moderate, n = 4; and severe, n = 8) with a mean age of 12.
Background: ODM-201, a new-generation androgen receptor inhibitor, has shown clinical efficacy in prostate cancer (PCa). Quantitative methods are needed to accurately assess changes in bone as a measurement of treatment response. The Bone Scan Index (BSI) reflects the percentage of skeletal mass a given tumour affects.

Background: Previous systematic reviews have focused on the items used in reporting educational interventions for facilitating evidence-based practices in medicine and health care or teaching research literacy in nursing as well as on the outcomes of these interventions.
Design: A systematic review based on a procedure of the Centre for Reviews and Disseminations for conducting a systematic review of health interventions.
Aims And Objectives: To systematically review the literature on the outcomes of educational interventions relevant to nurses with regard to guideline implementation.
Background: Previous reviews on interventions to implement guidelines have focused on particular clinical problems, but only one included nursing studies.
Design: A systematic review based on the procedure of the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination.
Background: Two previous systematic reviews describe studies on journal clubs from 1995 to 2007.
Aims: To gather, assess, and synthesize the current empirical evidence on implementation of journal clubs, influencing factors, and outcomes of journal clubs in promoting evidence-based nursing.
Design: A systematic review based on the procedure of the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination.
Background: ODM-201 is a novel androgen receptor (AR) inhibitor designed to block the growth of prostate cancer cells through high-affinity binding to the AR and inhibition of AR nuclear translocation. This trial assessed ODM-201's safety, pharmacokinetics, and activity in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Methods: The ARADES trial is an open-label phase 1-2 trial undertaken in 23 hospitals across Europe and USA with ongoing long-term follow-up.
This study focused on nursing journal clubs as an intervention in promoting evidence-based nursing. Nursing journal clubs refer to arranged meetings where nurses convene to discuss the use of research knowledge in nursing practice. Researchers and directors of a university hospital planned the intervention.

Objectives: To study the incidence and clinical picture of Salmonella-associated reactive arthritis (ReA), as well as other reactive musculoskeletal symptoms and the arthritogenicity of various Salmonella enterica ssp. enterica serotypes in the population.
Method: We sent a questionnaire on enteric and extraintestinal (especially musculoskeletal) symptoms to 999 consecutive subjects with a Salmonella-positive stool culture.
Various quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) biomarkers, including but not limited to parametric MRI mapping, semiquantitative evaluation, and morphological assessment, have been successfully applied to assess cartilage repair in both animal and human studies. Through the interaction between interstitial water and constituent macromolecules the compositional and structural properties of cartilage can be evaluated. In this review a comprehensive view of a variety of quantitative techniques, particularly those involving parametric mapping, and their relationship to the properties of cartilage repair is presented.
