Background: In our study, we aimed to test the efficacy and safety of Trans-Perineal Laser Ablation of the prostate (TPLA®) in the surgical treatment of high-risk Benign Prostatic Obstruction (BPO) patients.
Methods: We defined a high-risk BPO patient as an elderly man affected by severe comorbidities, among which coagulation issues due to pre-existent medications or diseases. From October 2020 to June 2022, we prospectively enrolled high-risk patients affected by a moderate to severe and/or complicated BPO condition.

Background: Human ejaculation can be defined as a complex and still largely unknown function. Since decades, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) surgery-associated loss of antegrade ejaculation has been reported as a bother by many patients. New technologies and modified surgical techniques were developed, to reduce the impact of ejaculatory dysfunction on patients' perceived quality of life.

We enrolled 24 healthy individuals (12 M, 12 F) in 3 different fMRI experiments: the vision of prototypical body silhouettes, the vision of static images of the face of the participants morphed with prototypical male and female faces, the vision of short videos showing the dynamic transformation of the morphing. We found differential sexual activations in areas linked to self-identity and to the ability to attribute mental states: In Experiment 1, the male group activated more the bilateral thalamus when looking at sex congruent body images, while the female group activated more the middle and inferior temporal gyrus.

Methods: Sexually active, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients undergoing an anatomic PVP between 11/2018 and 2/2020 were included.
Purpose: To investigate the natural history and follow-up after kidney tumor treatment of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) patients.
Materials And Methods: A multi-institutional European consortium of patients with VHL syndrome included 96 non-metastatic patients treated at 9 urological departments (1987-2018). Descriptive and survival analyses were performed.
Introduction And Objectives: Adult patients with Klinefelter syndrome (KS) may present with testicular volume loss and a decrease in circulating testosterone (T) levels. However, the actual rate of hypogonadism in adult KS men is unknown. We aimed to (a) assess the prevalence of different forms of hypogonadism in a cohort of KS patients with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA); and (b) investigate potential preoperative predictor of positive sperm retrieval (SR) at surgery in the same cohort of men.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: A recent meta-analysis (Human Reproduction Update 23, 2017 and 265) reported positive sperm retrieval rates (SRR) in 50% of patients with Klinefelter syndrome (KS) undergoing testicular sperm extraction (TESE). However, these results do not reflect the rates of SR that we observe in clinical practice. We assessed the rate and potential predictors of SR in Klinefelter patients in the real-life setting.

Many patients report genitourinary pain and Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms as a main complaint. Many different pharmacological or behavioural therapies are prescribed in daily clinical practice, but efficacy data are still lacking.

Aim: To compare fibrin-coated collagen fleece (TachoSil; Baxter International, Deerfield, IL, USA) with porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS; Cook Biotech, West Lafayette, IN, USA) as grafts.
Methods: From January 2007 to January 2015, 60 non-randomized consecutive patients affected by end-stage Peyronie disease underwent PIG and PP implantation (AMS 700CX; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA, USA).
Purpose: Inguinal lymphadenectomy (iLAD) reduces mortality in patients with cN0 penile cancer but yields high complication rates. Thus, its prophylactic role has been questioned and dynamic sentinel node biopsy (DSNB) was introduced to select men who should undergo the procedure. Our aim was to investigate the accuracy of a contemporary DSNB cohort.

Patients And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed clinical records of 69 patients who underwent PSV from January 2005 to January 2015. Two validated methods were used: a scatterplot representation and a splitting group.
Introduction: We compared the postoperative sexual function of patients who underwent wide local excision (WLE) and glansectomy with urethral glanduloplasty for penile cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed clinical data of 41 patients affected by superficial, localized penile cancer (≤cT2a) between 2006 and 2013. Patients with severe erectile dysfunction and not interested in resuming an active sexual life were selected for penile partial amputation.
Infertility is defined as the inability of a sexually active non-contracepting couple to achieve spontaneous pregnancy in one year. Factors of male infertility are present in 50% of infertile couples. Azoospermia is defined as the absence of sperm in the ejaculate, even after centrifugation of the sample, and affects 10%-15% of the infertile male population.
