Introduction: The assessment of the knee alignment on long leg radiographs (LLR) postoperative to corrective knee osteotomies (CKOs) is highly dependent on the reader's expertise. Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms may help automate and standardise this process. The study aimed to analyse the reliability of an AI-algorithm for the evaluation of LLRs following CKOs.

Background: An exact definition is lacking for the term "weight-bearing" or different standing modalities when implementing foot radiographs for children and adults; moreover, only few studies have investigated the relationship between radiographic and pedobarographic measurements.

Research Question: We hypothesized that the method of weight-bearing in single-leg and both-leg standing positions could influence the measurement results in radiographs and the distribution of foot pressure.

Methods: This prospective study evaluated 33 children (66 feet) with flexible flatfoot deformities scheduled for subtalar screw arthroereisis surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • Osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) is a significant cause of pain in the pediatric elbow, and this study evaluates a new treatment approach involving a hyaluronic acid scaffold and bone grafting for advanced stages of OCD.
  • Five adolescents received the combined treatment and were assessed clinically and radiologically after an average of 34 months post-surgery, showing positive outcomes across various performance scores.
  • Results indicated all patients reported no pain (NRS score of 0), and while some radiographic improvements were noted, full resolution of OCD occurred in only 2 out of 5 patients, with no complications experienced.

Continuous measurements of lumbar posture provide the basis for determining the factors influencing the difference between subjective and objective assessments of lumbar posture. The lumbar flexion posture during an entire work day was registered in a group of 13 sewage workers and 14 physical therapists. Subjective lumbar posture data, perceived occupational stress, job satisfaction and 12 month prevalence of low back pain were obtained using standardized questionnaires.
