Treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) that target the programmed cell death 1/programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-1/PD-L1) axis is usually ineffective in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), either as first-line treatment or in later lines. By contrast, especially for patients with common EGFR mutations (exon 19 deletion/L858R point mutation), an orally bioavailable EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) is the best upfront therapy, being able to provide response rates well above 50% and a median progression-free survival ranging from 11 to 19 months, depending on whether a second-generation (e.g.

Different treatments of PPH are proposed by the scientific society's guidelines; to date, pelvic artery embolization is an effective therapeutic strategy with the advantages of fast speed, repeatability, and the possibility of future fertility preservation. We compared the different PPH treatments, focusing especially on the role of interventional radiology reviewing pelvic vascular anatomy and emphasizing on the timing of embolization and various clinical conditions of PPH.

However, upper postero-lateral lung nodules (UPLN) may be difficult to reach using a standard intercostal either anterior or lateral approach or when the nodule is just behind a rib or scapula. We evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of trans-scapular approach (tPLB) in these patients using large-core needles.

Subsequent treatment of such complication can be challenging especially in case of bilateral iliac involvement. Open repair is technically demanding and often a high risk procedure, while embolization via transfemoral approach is unviable due to the stent-graft coverage precluding direct antegrade access between the common and the internal iliac lumen.

Methods: Patients with an EGFR WT genotype who were treated with an EGFR-TKI for advanced disease at our Institution were identified. Simultaneous availability of KRAS mutation status was required for study inclusion.

This article describes the first case of a giant pancreatic pseudocyst in a 48-year-old man with HIV infection under combination antiretroviral therapy. The patient presented with an abdominal mass involving the epigastrium, left hypochondrium, and left flank. An enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan showed a well-defined cyst of 21 cm in diameter, with a liquid content that dislocated adjacent viscera.

The frustration for the invariably negative results reported in the early 2000s in clinical studies investigating new agents for this disease have contributed to the little interest shown by pharmaceutical industries in funding SCLC research. However, recent advances in the molecular understanding of the oncogenic mechanisms underlying SCLC have renewed the attraction for the clinical development of novel active drugs for the treatment of this challenging disease.

Materials And Methods: Between May 2001 and July 2002, a total of 96 consecutive patients (100 lesions) who presented with symptomatic >70% diameter stenosis, asymptomatic >90% diameter stenosis or post-endarterectomy as well as post-radiotherapy hemodynamically significant stenosis underwent carotid artery stenting with filter protection at our institute. The mean age of the patients was 72 (range 51-91).
