Background: Legacy interventions are standard in most children's hospitals, but little is known about how bereaved parents understand and describe the concept of legacy that these interventions are designed to Address. The aim of this qualitative study was to understand the legacy experiences and perceptions of parents who have experienced perinatal or early infant (less than three months of age) loss.

Methods: Grounded in constructionist epistemology and phenomenological qualitative traditions, ten bereaved parents completed an in-depth phenomenological interview regarding their perceptions of and experiences with the legacy of their deceased child.

Objective: Inactivity and inflammation are linked to obesity and insulin resistance. It was hypothesized that MyD88 (mediates inflammation) knockout from muscle (MusMyD88 ) would prevent, whereas miR146a (MyD88 inhibitor) would exacerbate, inactivity-induced metabolic disturbances.

An acyclic polyether 1a, incorporating a central tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) electron donor unit and two 4-tert-butylphenoxy groups at its termini, has been synthesized. Two macrocyclic polyethers containing two different electron donors, namely a TTF unit with, in one case, a 1,4-dioxybenzene ring (2a), and, in the other case (2b), a 1,5-dioxynaphthalene ring system, have also been synthesized. These two macrocyclic polyethers have been mechanically interlocked in kinetically controlled template-directed syntheses with cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) cyclophane (3(4+)) to afford the [2]catenanes 2a/3(4+) and 2b/3(4+), respectively.

Foods for Health, a nutrition education and research program sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Giant Food, Inc., was designed to demonstrate the feasibility of cardiovascular nutrition education at the point of purchase, specifically, in the supermarket. Left atrial myxoma has often stimulated systemic vasculitis or a connective tissue disease, but the diagnosis is usually suggested by cardiac symptoms or signs. The present case report is both unusual and instructive in that the patient presented with a painless left foot drop followed by digital vasculitis. Laboratory findings included depressed total hemolytic complement and elevated anti-double-stranded DNA.

The incidence of arrhythmias during isometric sustained handgrip exercise and during dynamic graded bicycle exercise was compared in a group of 45 patients with various forms of heart disease on no antiarrhythmic therapy. Atrial arrhythmias were equally common during handgrip and bicycle exercise but ventricular arrhythmias were more frequent during handgrip exercise. Of the 45 patients, 38 per cent developed ventricular arrhythmias during isometric exercise, with ventricular tachycardia occurring in 15 per cent.
