The integral role of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in reproductive processes makes it a prime therapeutic target. By inhibiting sex steroid synthesis, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues are used in the management of cancers, benign neoplasms, infertility and gender dysphoria.
