Some epidemiological experts feel there is sufficient proof that glyphosate use adversely affects human health, and glyphosate has been labeled as probably carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Federal law in the United States provides two major options under which health concerns about glyphosate use might be addressed. First, registrations of glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs) need to be cancelled if the costs are greater that its benefits.

Accuracy of intraoperative fluoroscopy with and without laser guidance in foot and ankle surgery.

Background: The use of intraoperative fluoroscopy in orthopedic surgery involves frequent exposure to ionizing radiation in the operating room. Although a number of studies have found radiation exposure to orthopedic surgeons to be well below recommended doses, the long-term effects of low-dose radiation are not well known. Thus, all effective practical methods should be undertaken to reduce the exposure to radiation.

Biomechanical advantages of triple-loaded suture anchors compared with double-row rotator cuff repairs.

Purpose: To evaluate the strength and suture-tendon interface security of various suture anchors triply and doubly loaded with ultrahigh-molecular weight polyethylene-containing sutures and to evaluate the relative effectiveness of placing these anchors in a single-row or double-row arrangement by cyclic loading and then destructive testing.

Methods: The infraspinatus muscle was reattached to the original humeral footprint by use of 1 of 5 different repair patterns in 40 bovine shoulders. Two single-row repairs and three double-row repairs were tested.

Isolated avulsion fracture of the extensor carpi radialis brevis insertion due to a boxer's injury.

Avulsion fractures involving the radial wrist extensor tendons are extremely rare. Only 8 avulsion fractures of the extensor carpi radialis longus and 7 avulsion fractures of the extensor carpi radialis brevis have been previously reported. We know of no case involving an isolated avulsion fracture of the base of the third metacarpal where the extensor carpi radialis brevis attachment to the fracture fragment was still completely intact.

Efficacy of repeat shoulder magnetic resonance imaging.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is frequently used in the assessment of patients with shoulder pain. Occasionally, physicians will obtain a repeat MRI of a shoulder that has not had surgical intervention. The purpose of this study was to determine whether repeat shoulder MRI is diagnostically efficacious.
