Asymptomatic pulmonary embolism in lung cancer: prevalence and analysis of clinical and radiological characteristics in 141 outpatients.

Aims and background. The incidence of asymptomatic pulmonary embolism in cancer patients is unknown and strictly related to the imaging used for tumor assessment. Recent findings suggest a similar clinical outcome of asymptomatic pulmonary embolism events compared to symptomatic events with a significant impact on survival.

Endometrial metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma: a case report.

The female genital tract is an infrequent site of metastasis, in particular from extragenital primary tumors such as non-small cell lung cancer. Ovarian metastases have been described as disseminations of lung adenocarcinoma; rare cases of secondary localizations in adnexa, cervix and vagina were also observed in the literature, but none of these had endometrial involvement. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of non-small cell lung cancer with metastatic spread to the endometrium.

Typhlitis during second-line chemotherapy with pemetrexed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): A case report.

Neutropenic enterocolitis, or typhlitis, is an unusual acute complication of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, characterized by inflammatory process involving colon and/or small bowel that may progress to necrosis, haemorrhage, perforation and septicaemia. Typhlitis is usually seen in the setting of severe chemotherapy-induced neutropenia for acute leukaemia. Nevertheless, it is increasingly recognized as a complication of therapy in solid tumors.
