Background: Prevention and treatment of metastatic breast cancer (BC) is an unmet clinical need. The retinoic acid derivative fenretinide (FeR) was previously evaluated in Phase I-III clinical trials but, despite its excellent tolerability and antitumor activity in preclinical models, showed limited therapeutic efficacy due to poor bioavailability. We recently generated a new micellar formulation of FeR, Bionanofenretinide (Bio-nFeR) showing enhanced bioavailability, low toxicity, and strong antitumor efficacy on human lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and melanoma xenografts.

Chromogranin A (CgA), a ∼ 49 kDa acidic secretory protein, is ubiquitously distributed in endocrine and neuroendocrine cells and neurons. As a propeptide, CgA is proteolytically cleaved to generate several peptides of biological importance, including pancreastatin (PST: hCgA), Vasostatin 1 (VS1: hCgA), and catestatin (CST: CgA ). VS1 represents the most conserved fragment of CgA.

Materials: A total of 118 paediatric patients were included in the study. In addition to the evaluation of clinical (vitality test, percussion test) and radiographic (X-ray bitewing, OPT) parameters, patients' lifestyle was investigated through validated questionnaries.
We describe the development and validation of a HPLC-MS/MS method to assess the pharmacokinetics and tumor distribution of fenretinide, a synthetic retinoid chemically related to all-trans-retinoic acid, after administration of a novel oral nanoformulation of fenretinide, called bionanofenretinide (BNF). BNF was developed to overcome the major limitation of fenretinide: its poor aqueous solubility and bioavailability due to its hydrophobic nature. The method proved to be reproducible, precise and highly accurate for the measurement of the drug and the main metabolites.

The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) may not reflect real-world contexts due to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Baricitinib, which targets both JAK1 and JAK2, has been used in Italy for several years.

Oxidative stress defined as "an alteration in the pro-oxidant-antioxidant balance in favor of the former that leads to potential damage" is characterized by the release of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).

Several trials have evaluated the effect of intraperitoneal treatment. In this preclinical study, we report the efficacy, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of intraperitoneal treatment with two approved nanomolecular formulations of paclitaxel (nab-PTX and mic-PTX) in a murine ovarian cancer xenograft model.

The impact of that pain on both short and long-term health has been studied and literature suggests midwives have a role to play in addressing this issue. However, the determinants of perineal pain when no lesions are identified are under researched and there is little understanding of women's views on this topic.

Patients And Methods: A total of 1,097 patients presented, from June 2010 to February 2017, with one or more of the following HR criteria: rearrangement, hypodiploidy, prednisone poor response, poor bone marrow response at day 15 (Flow MRD ≥10%), or no complete remission (CR) at the end of induction. Of them, 809 (85.
Background: Mitigating rating inconsistency can improve measurement fidelity and detection of treatment response.
Methods: The International Society for CNS Clinical Trials and Methodology convened an expert Working Group that developed logical consistency (LC) checks for ratings of the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), which is widely used in studies of mood and bipolar disorders. LC and statistical outlier-response pattern checks (SC) were applied to 63,228 YMRS administrations from 14 clinical trials evaluating treatments for bipolar disorder.
Chemotherapy is the standard of care for most malignancies. Its tumor debulking effect in adjuvant or neoadjuvant settings is unquestionable, although secondary effects have been reported that paradoxically promote metastasis. Chemotherapy affects the hematopoietic precursors leading to myelosuppression, with neutropenia being the main hematological toxicity induced by cytotoxic therapy.

The present case report describes a rare case of a cardiac abnormality diagnosed as Supravalvular Mitral Stenosis in an asymptomatic cat. An 11-years old cat was presented for orthopedic evaluation, and during general clinical examination a heart rate of 180 bpm and left diastolic cardiac murmur grade III-IV/VI, between the mitral and aortic foci, were found. Radiographic, echocardiographic, angiocardiographic and post-mortem (the patient died during anesthesia performed to diagnose the orthopedic condition) magnetic resonance and pathologic findings are reported herein.

We aimed to assess the tolerability of regorafenib and paclitaxel in patients with advanced esophagogastric cancer (EGC) refractory to first-line treatment, and explore potential biomarkers.
Methods: Patients received paclitaxel (80 mg/m) on days 1, 8, and 15 of a 28-day cycle and regorafenib (80/120/160 mg) on days 1-21 in the dose-escalation cohort, and the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD) in the dose-expansion cohort.
Background: l-Asparaginase (ASP) plays a crucial role in the treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Currently, different ASP products are available in the market, including both native and pegylated drugs. Several biogeneric Escherichia coli ASP (GEN-ASP) products have been developed in response to shortages and expensiveness of the native E.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on March 11, 2020. In Panama, the first SARS-CoV-2 infection was confirmed on March 9, 2020, and the first fatal case associated to COVID-19 was reported on March 10.

It is known that many antitumor drugs have limited penetration into solid tumor tissues due to its microenvironment, thus contributing to their low efficacy. Therapeutic modalities have been exploited to elicit antitumor effects based on microenvironment of tumor, including Photodynamic therapy (PDT).
