Simultaneous substrate and ubiquitin modification recognition by bispecific antibodies enables detection of ubiquitinated RIP1 and RIP2.

Ubiquitination is a posttranslational modification that is crucial for the dynamic regulation of diverse signaling pathways. To enhance our understanding of ubiquitination-mediated signaling, we generated a new class of bispecific antibodies that combine recognition of ubiquitination substrates and specific polyubiquitin linkages. RIP1-K63 and RIP1-linear (Lin) linkage polyubiquitin bispecific antibodies detected linkage-specific ubiquitination of the proinflammatory kinase RIP1 in cells and in tissues and revealed RIP1 ubiquitination by immunofluorescence.

Background: Posterior spinal fusion (PSF) for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) has a potential risk for postoperative pleural effusion. Although pleural effusion at an early period after PSF for AIS occurs with a relatively high frequency and occasionally requires some treatments, the impact of postoperative pleural effusion on future pulmonary function or lung volume (LV) has not been clarified to date. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pleural effusion after PSF for AIS on the postoperative pulmonary function and LV.

We describe the ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT findings in a case of left atrial undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma with osteosarcomatous differentiation, presenting with severe mitral regurgitation and pulmonary hypertension. The tumor presented as a broad-base mass protruding into the cardiac lumen, accompanied by punctate calcification-like high attenuation on CT.

Systemic inflammation adversely affects response to anamorelin in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Purpose: Anamorelin, a selective ghrelin receptor agonist, has been approved for pancreatic cancer treatment in Japan. We aimed to investigate whether systemic inflammation, represented by the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), and C-reactive protein (CRP)-albumin ratio (CAR), could predict the effect of anamorelin in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.

Recently, the importance of HS in respiratory central pattern generation has been recognized, yet the function of HS in the medullary respiratory network remains poorly understood. Here, to evaluate the functional roles of HS in the medullary respiratory network, the Bötzinger complex (BötC), the pre-Bötzinger complex (preBötC), and the rostral ventral respiratory group (rVRG), we observed the effects of inhibition of HS synthesis at each region on the respiratory pattern by using an in situ arterially perfused preparation of decerebrated male rats.
