Purpose: To evaluate functional and oncological outcomes in patients who underwent unilateral or bilateral nerve-sparing (NS) robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for high-risk prostate cancer.
Methods: The cohort comprised 2683 patients with clinical stage T1-4, N0M0 high-risk prostate cancer who underwent RARP in Japanese tertiary care centers from August 2011 to April 2023. High risk was defined using the European Association of Urology risk stratification criteria.

Background: Mature teratomas are benign cystic tumors that are most commonly asymptomatic. However, in some cases, mediastinal teratomas rupture the lungs and mediastinum with potentially fatal outcomes. Herein, we report a case of a large mediastinal mature teratoma that expanded to the entire left hemithorax in a child with common cold-like symptoms.

In this case, the P waves immediately after the QRS waves complicated rhythm interpretation. Close attention to P-wave morphology and fused premature ventricular complexes can be important for a proper diagnosis.

In ipsilateral reoperations, intrathoracic adhesions from a previous surgery increase the risk of lung injury and bleeding, which may result in intraoperative and postoperative complications. The ability of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) sheets to prevent postoperative adhesions has been demonstrated in the abdomen, and the same effect is expected in the thoracic region.

This study aims to investigate the long-term outcomes and loco-regional relapse patterns in patients with clinical stage IA (c-IA) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after segmentectomy and compare them with those after lobectomy.
Methods: We retrospectively compared the long-term outcomes of 115 patients who underwent segmentectomy for c-IA NSCLC with those of 292 patients who underwent lobectomy between January 2008 and December 2015.
Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a severe arrhythmia commonly treated with implantable cardioverter defibrillators, antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation (CA). Although CA is effective in reducing recurrent VT, its impact on survival remains uncertain, especially in patients with extensive scarring. Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) has emerged as a novel treatment for VT in patients unresponsive to CA, leveraging techniques from stereotactic body radiation therapy used in cancer treatments.

Based on the Bullous Pemphigoid Disease Area Index (BPDAI) severity assessment, immunosuppressive drugs are recommended for severe cases that fall within the more than moderate classes. Sarcopenia, which is characterized by decreased skeletal muscle mass and function in elderly patients, is a progressive and widespread skeletal muscle disease.

This study investigated the current dosing of rivaroxaban, apixaban, and edoxaban by monitoring drug plasma concentration (PC) and coagulation activity from the viewpoint of the safety. This multicenter clinical study monitored the drug PC and two coagulation biomarkers (fibrinogen and fibrin monomer complex [FMC]) at peak and trough timing in 268 outpatients taking rivaroxaban (n = 72), apixaban (n = 71), and edoxaban (n = 125) for NVAF.

This study examined how slow-soluble innovative candy, named low-solubility amorphous material, affects oral indices such as saliva secretion and halitosis in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover comparative study. Twenty-four healthy individuals with low saliva production were given one piece of low-solubility amorphous material or placebo candy and their saliva secretion was measured over 20 min.

Although this palsy is conventionally treated conservatively, interfascicular neurolysis to release hourglass-like fascicular constrictions has been recommended. The present study aimed to establish the clinical characteristics and treatment strategy for this condition.

Background: N-butyl cyanoacrylate (n-BCA) is often used for preoperative transarterial embolization (TAE) of meningiomas. However, factors affecting the embolization effect with n-BCA remain unclear. This study aimed to clarify the factors associated with the embolization rate after TAE using n-BCA in meningioma, from the aspect of feeder architecture.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the guiding modalities used for percutaneous needle insertion during interventional procedures. MRI guidance has several advantages, including multiplanar imaging capability, superior soft tissue contrast resolution, and the absence of ionizing radiation. When performing MRI-guided procedures, it is important to understand the suitable MRI systems, instruments, and imaging sequences for intervention.

Moreover, despite the growing application of deep learning in various biomedical fields, its application in integrating networks to analyze disease mechanisms in AD research remains limited. In this study, we employed BIONIC, a deep learning-based network integration method, to integrate proteomics and protein-protein interaction data, with an aim to uncover factors that moderate the effects of the Aβ-tau interaction on mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and early-stage AD.

Although the number of invasive group A Streptococcus (iGAS) infections decreased during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, it sharply increased worldwide following the pandemic due to the emergence of M1 strains. In Japan, non-fluminant iGAS infections have not been included in the national survey notification system.

In the first part of the review, we introduce the various applications of AI in optimizing different aspects of the MRI process, including scan protocols, patient preparation, image acquisition, image reconstruction, and postprocessing techniques. Additionally, we examine AI's growing influence in clinical decision-making, particularly in areas such as segmentation, radiation therapy planning, and reporting assistance.
