  • * The analysis reveals that the WG questions can identify people with mild or worse impairments, showing moderate sensitivity (44-79%) and specificity (73-92%), particularly when the cut-off used is "some/worse difficulty."
  • * While a significant percentage of individuals needing referrals for medical services reported some difficulty, the WG questions still demonstrate limited effectiveness in identifying those with moderate impairments and their service needs.

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, has become a global pandemic. Given that the highest viral load of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is found in the airway, otolaryngologists are at high risk of infection. As a result, multiple recommendations have emerged regarding protective measures for surgical teams, including suspending non-urgent procedures and surgeries.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the prevalence and risk factors associated with voice disorders among healthcare workers in high-risk hospital settings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A questionnaire was distributed to 221 healthcare personnel, revealing that approximately 33% experienced voice issues in the past month, with 26.24% scoring abnormally on the Voice Handicap Index (VHI-10).
  • Factors such as long working hours, extended mask use, and working in intensive care units were linked to higher VHI-10 scores, indicating an increased risk of voice disorders in these workers.

Adverse drug events are frequent and may be mitigated with the implementation of functionalities within Health Information Systems. We developed a tool that allows Pharmacists to register and communicate to providers potential errors in prescribed drugs in terms of medication omission, unjustified stop of medication or other reasons. We included all interventions performed by Pharmacists for admitted patients between July, 31st 2018 and October, 23rd 2018.

Benzodiazepines are widely used in primary health care, and their prolonged use is an important problem given the medical consequences particularly in older adults, such as dependence, cognitive impairment, and risk of falls, among others. Primary care doctors generally have few tools to help with managing withdrawal from benzodiazepines. We conducted a review of the best available evidence on practical strategies to avoid dependence at the time of the initial prescription, and to help the patient with prolonged and probably dependent use.

However, what happens to TT levels after ending CC treatment is still debatable. The objective of this study is to evaluate TT levels 3 months after the discontinuation of CC in patients with LOH who were previously successfully treated with the same drug.
