Background And Objectives: Iron deficiency (ID) poses a prevalent concern among blood donors, especially impacting young donors, premenopausal females and frequent donors. In alignment with recommendations to address ID, routine ferritin testing was implemented in a hospital-based donor centre.

Materials And Methods: Data set, encompassing 26 164 ferritin values from 16 464 blood donors over 33 months, were analysed retrospectively.

In India and the Southeast Asian population, hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are the leading lifestyle-related diseases, responsible for a majority burden of morbidity and mortality. Multiple population-spanning studies have revealed the staggering prevalence of both diseases in India, and the prevalence of both will only increase further due to factors such as an aging population, rapid urbanization, increased obesity, and sedentary lifestyles. More than 50 percent of hypertensive patients in India are also diagnosed with T2DM, and a detailed management protocol for the same is required, especially when a major portion of the disease is managed at the primary care level.

Study Design And Methods: A subgroup of America's Blood Centers' (ABC) Scientific, Medical, and Technical Committee developed a survey to measure the determination of eligibility, policies for deferral and/or lookback when a donor reports a current diagnosis or history of cancer. A 31-question survey was sent to 47 ABC blood centers in North America via email.

Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD), caused by , is life-threatening with a high case fatality rate (CFR) and severe sequelae. We compiled and critically discussed the evidence on IMD epidemiology, antibiotic resistance and disease management in Vietnam, focusing on children. PubMed, Embase and gray literature searches for English, Vietnamese and French publications, with no date restrictions, retrieved 11 eligible studies.

Primary cardiac lymphoma (PCL) is a rare, potentially fatal subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Thrombocytopenia has also infrequently been reported in association with other primary cardiac tumours and can add substantial morbidity to an already life-threatening diagnosis if present. We report a rare case of a 70-year-old man who presented with thrombocytopenia (91 × 10/L) and progressive right heart failure.
