Article Synopsis
  • Telemonitoring (TM) of home non-invasive ventilation (NIV) was studied to see if it reduces dropout rates compared to non-telemonitoring (NTM) methods among adults with chronic respiratory failure.
  • The study included 659 adults, with results showing that only 13% of the TM group discontinued therapy after one year, compared to 34% in the NTM group, indicating TM's effectiveness in increasing compliance.
  • Additionally, patients using TM had better usage rates (more than 4 hours per day) and improved leak control at various follow-up points, suggesting overall better management of their treatment.

Objective: Our aim was to measure the effectiveness of home healthcare pressure ulcer (PU) prevention devices (PUPDs) for at-risk patients after hospital discharge in France.

Method: We conducted a retrospective analysis of PU-associated hospitalisations based on the French medico-administrative database (Système National des Données de Santé, SNDS), which covers the entire French population. All adults >70 years of age, hospitalised from 1 July to 31 December 2015, and equipped with a medical bed at home, were included.

Introduction: Daratumumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD38, is approved to treat multiple myeloma. Red blood cells express low levels of CD38, which can result in a false-positive antibody screen in daratumumab-treated patients. Educational materials were developed to inform healthcare professionals (HCPs) and blood transfusion management department personnel (BTMDP) about this risk and recommended measures to mitigate that risk.

Background: Undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinomas are rare in a majority of countries but they occur at a high incidence in South China and to a lesser extent in North Africa. They are constantly associated with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) regardless of patient geographic origin. In North Africa, the distribution of NPC cases according to patient age is bi-modal with a large group of patients being around 50 years old (80%) and a smaller group below 25 years old.
