Patients' knowledge about renal secondary effects of anti-tumoral drugs and renal protection measures.

Purpose: Onco-nephrology is an emerging subspecialty aiming to better understand and prevent renal events in cancer patients. We assessed patients' knowledge about (1) oncological/hematological treatments induced renal toxicity and (2) kidney protective measures.

Methods: Adult patients receiving systemic anti-tumor treatments in multiple day hospital units in France answered a self-administered questionnaire about their knowledge and expectations related to treatment-associated renal toxicity.

Simultaneous quantification of four hormone therapy drugs by LC-MS/MS: Clinical applications in breast cancer patients.

Introduction: Aromatase inhibitors such as anastrozole, letrozole, exemestane and selective estrogen down-regulator (SERD) fulvestrant are used mostly to treat breast cancer estrogen receptor positive in post-menopausal women. These drugs are given either through the oral route or by intramuscular injection. They have shown great inter-individual variability with a risk of cardiometabolic disorders.

[Epidemiology, diagnosis and extension].

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. The elderly, whose numbers have been increasing, constitute a population in their own right, because of the many co-morbidities they suffer from. The epidemiology of breast cancer, particularly in elderly women, is described here, as well as the diagnosis and the assessment of extension, which do not differ from the rest of the population.
