Developing a patient toolkit for opioid use and management through co-creation.

Canada has been experiencing an opioid use crisis, and urgent efforts are being made to stem the tide. With funding support from Health Canada, the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) recently developed a series of asynchronous online bilingual modules to educate key players across the medical education spectrum on chronic pain and opioid use. The curriculum for the modules which informed the development of the Patient-Physician Partnership Toolkit was co-created through an authentic collaboration between healthcare professionals (HCPs), and patient subject matter experts who were patients with lived experience.

Towards a New Integrated Model for Taking Into Account the Experiential Knowledge of People With Chronic Diseases, Integrating Mediation, Therapeutic Education and Partnership: The Expanded Chronic Care Patient-Professional Partnership Model.

Introduction: The Chronic Care Model (CCM), the Expanded Chronic Care Model (ECCM) and the eHealth Enhanced Chronic Care Model (eCCM) focus on how healthcare teams and eHealth support can offer effective care and relevant solutions for patients facing chronic care conditions. However, they do not consider how patients can help these teams in their work, nor do they promote ways in which patients can help themselves. However, in the last decade, three different models have emerged that can complete our capacity to design and deliver integrated care for people with chronic diseases.

Implementing the patient partnership approach to quality improvement of care and services: A multiple case study protocol.

Context: Patient and family partners are being increasingly engaged worldwide in processes aimed at the quality improvement (QI) of healthcare services. There is also growing interest in documenting these engagement processes within organizations to share and improve them. To support the provincial implementation of this approach, the Quebec's ministry of health and social services published, in 2018, the "Framework for the partnership approach between patients, their families and health and social service stakeholders".

Patient Learning Pathway: Identifying Patient Competencies in Teledermatology for Effective Management of Dermatological Conditions.

Background: Dermatology consultations in Québec, Canada, face accessibility challenges, with most dermatologists concentrated in urban areas. Teledermatology, offering remote diagnosis and treatment, holds promise in overcoming these limitations. However, concerns regarding patient-doctor relationships and logistical issues exist.

Adopting a learning pathway approach to patient partnership in telehealth: A proof of concept.

Background: Amidst the acceleration of digital health deployment in the province of Québec, the need to clarify the role of patients and caregivers was deemed essential to guide the deployment of telehealth strategies. A patient learning pathway (PLP) approach to patient and caregiver engagement was developed, containing knowledge, abilities, and skills mobilized by patients and caregivers at key moments of the life course with an illness, as well as emerging educational needs.

Objective: The objective of the current paper is to present the innovative PLP approach to patient and caregiver engagement in telehealth by applying it to three medical specialties within the context of the Québec healthcare system: dermatology, oncology, and mental health/psychiatry.

The patient involvement in nursing education: A mixed-methods systematic review.

Objective: To evaluate the effects patient involvement in nursing education has on students, patients and academic staff using a specific theoretical framework.
