NF3 and N(NO2)3 are known compounds, whereas the mixed fluoronitroamines, FN(NO2)2 and F2NNO2, have been unknown thus far. One of these, FN(NO2)2, has now been prepared and characterized by multinuclear NMR and Raman spectroscopy. FN(NO2)2 is the first known example of an inorganic fluoronitroamine.

The title salt, (C(2)H(8)NO(3)S)[SbF(6)], which contains the protonated form of taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid), was synthesized in anhydrous hydrofluoric acid and recrystallized as colourless block-shaped crystals from liquid SO(2). In the solid state, a three-dimensional network is observed. This is formed by intra- and intermolecular N-H···O, N-H···F and O-H···F hydrogen bonds.

Imidazolone (dIz) is an abundant, highly mutagenic, and rather unstable DNA lesion that can cause dG-->dC transversion mutations. dIz is generated in DNA by a variety of oxidative processes such as type I photooxidation. Herein we report the synthesis of a carbocyclic nucleoside analogue of dIz and of DNA containing this stabilized lesion analogue.
