Article Synopsis
  • - Arterial fenestrations are harmless structures resulting from a failure of fetal fusion, which need to be distinguished from carotid webs and dissections for appropriate clinical management.
  • - A study analyzed 1,800 head and neck CTA scans over 18 months, finding a small percentage of intraluminal abnormalities: 0.4% were fenestrations, 0.9% were carotid webs, and 2.6% were dissections.
  • - The findings emphasize that while arterial fenestrations are rare, recognizing their distinct imaging characteristics on CTAs is crucial for correct diagnosis and treatment decisions.

Article Synopsis
  • Combined hepatocellular cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA) is a rare and aggressive liver tumor with a worse prognosis compared to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and similar to intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA).
  • There is limited MRI literature regarding cHCC-CCA, making it a challenging diagnosis; however, specific imaging patterns can help distinguish it from other liver tumors.
  • Tumor markers might be useful for identification, and sampling challenges arise due to intratumoral heterogeneity, which can lead to misdiagnosis if biopsies don't capture both histologic components.

Hirayama disease is a rare juvenile amyotrophy that is often misdiagnosed as an unrelated, relentlessly progressive disease. We present the case of an 18-year-old man who presented with weakness and atrophy of the right forearm and hand. Dynamic cervical magnetic resonance imaging was used, revealing the classic findings of epidural venous plexus dilation and anterior displacement of the dural sac.
