Production of nitric oxide (NO) by LPS-activated macrophages is due to a complex cellular signaling initiated by TLR4 that leads to the transcription of IFN-β, which activates IRF-1 and STAT-1, as well as to the activation of NF-κB, required for iNOS transcription. High concentrations of LPS can also be uptaken by scavenger receptors (SRs), which, in concert with TLR4, leads to inflammatory responses. The mechanisms by which TLR4 and SRs interact, and the pathways activated by this interaction in macrophages are not elucidated.

Objective: Is the AMH level correlated with age and number of mature oocytes retrieved from stimulated cycles?
Methods: This descriptive, retrospective, observational study included the data of about 1500 patients submitted to Assisted Reproductive Technology treatments in a clinic in Brazil between July 2012 and April 2019. Patients not submitted to IVF and/or without AMH level records were excluded. The study included women with fertility issues aged 20-50 years submitted to IVF.
Innate immune cells present a dual role during leishmaniasis: they constitute the first line of host defense but are also the main host cells for the parasite. Response against the infection that results in the control of parasite growth and lesion healing depends on activation of macrophages into a classical activated phenotype. We report an essential role for the microbiota in driving macrophage and monocyte-derived macrophage activation towards a resistance phenotype against infection in mice.

The effects of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) inhibition were also studied using iNOS knockout animals.
Material And Methods: Male C57BL6/J wild-type (WT) and iNOS knockout (iNOS-/-) mice were randomized into 6 groups: Sham and Sham-/- (standard chow), IO and IO-/- (standard chow + IO), and Arg and Arg-/- (standard chow supplemented with arginine + IO).
To date, there is no vaccine available against human leishmaniasis. Although some vaccination protocols can induce immunity in murine models, they fail to induce protection in humans. The reasons for that remain unclear.
