Propolis is derived from plant resin and bees' salivary secretions, are commonly used in folk medicine. Studies on propolis from stingless bees have increased in recent years, highlighting their relevance due to the variety of species and the bioactive components. However, scientific records confirming these activities in species occurring in Brazil are still scarce.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of HIIT on cardiomyocyte contractile function and intracellular Ca handling in rats in which obesity was induced by a saturated high-fat diet (HFD).

Long-term monitoring of COVID-19 prevalence in raw and treated wastewater in Salvador, the largest capital of the Brazilian Northeast.

Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) becomes an interesting epidemiological approach to monitoring the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 broadly and non-invasively. Herein, we employ for the first time WBE, associated or not with the PEG 8000 precipitation method, for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in samples of raw or treated wastewater from 22 municipal wastewater treatment stations (WWTPs) located in Salvador, the fourth most populous city in Brazil. Our results demonstrate the success of the application of WBE for detecting SARS-CoV-2 in both types of evaluated samples, regardless of the usage of PEG 8000 concentration procedure.

This study aims to evaluate the extraction conditions of , using ethanol as solvent, focusing on the phloroglucinol and antimicrobial activity. In order to optimize the extraction conditions, ethanol 50, 70 and 90 GL was used as a solvent in the proportions of 1:20 (w/v) of drug:solvent ratio (D:S), stirring (330 rpm) at room temperature during 4 h, monitored by LC-UV and antimicrobial assay.

Material And Methods: Twenty-two female Wistar rats were divided into ovariectomy (OVX) (n = 11) and sham-operated control (n = 11) groups. Bilateral ovariectomy were performed in both groups at 21 days old (prepubertal stage), and rats were euthanized at an age of 63 days (post-pubertal stage).
