Importance: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent and disabling joint disorder. Minimally invasive interventions targeting the genicular nerves are widely used for the clinical management of knee OA, but evidence on their efficacy and safety remains uncertain.
Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of minimally invasive interventions targeting the genicular nerves in knee OA.
Background: Intracranial chondrosarcomas are malignant tumors that most commonly affect the clivus region. For tumors in this location, the extended endoscopic endonasal approach could offer an alternative route. We present a case of pons herniation after this technique.

Carcinogenesis is driven by complex molecular events, often involving key enzymes that regulate oxidative stress (OS). While classical enzymes such as SOD, catalase, and GPx have been extensively studied, other, non-classical oxidative stress-related enzymes (OSRE) may play critical roles in cancer progression. We aimed to explore the role of OSRE involved in an OS scenario and to assess their potential contribution to carcinogenesis in some of the most prevalent cancer types.

Its gold standard treatment is a combination therapy of lumefantrine (LUM) and artemether (ART). Nanotechnology holds significant potential for improving drug bioavailability and potency while reducing adverse effects.

Objective: To quantify the effectiveness and safety of intra-articular interventions for knee and hip osteoarthritis (OA) through a systematic review and Bayesian random-effects network meta-analysis.
Design: We searched CENTRAL and regulatory agency websites (inception-2023) for large, English-language, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (≥100 patients/group) examining any intra-articular intervention.
Primary Outcome: pain intensity.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of applying oxidized cassava starch-based edible coatings with addition of lemongrass essential oil emulsion on 'Palmer' mangoes stored under refrigeration. A completely randomized design was used, arranged in a 5 × 3 factorial scheme, with five types of coatings and three evaluation times. The evaluated postharvest quality parameters consisted of weight loss, pulp and peel firmness, biochemical transformations related to pigments, and pulp and peel coloration of mango.

After complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) diagnosis, the timing of gonadectomy should be evaluated, considering the risks and benefits of this procedure. This paper reports an uncommon case of complete androgen insensitivity syndrome diagnosed belatedly in an adult patient.

The role of the yolk sac (YS) in miscarriage is not yet clear, largely due to ethical reasons that make in vivo studies difficult to conduct. However, 3D cultures could provide a solution to this problem by enabling cells to be arranged in a way that more closely mimics the structure of the YS as it exists in vivo. In this study, three domestic species (porcine, canine, and bovine) were chosen as models to standardize 3D culture techniques for the YS.

One treatment known by its tailored design is the McKenzie method (e.g.

Since there is no specific treatment for the condition, supportive therapy based on antibiotics, antiemetics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is traditionally used. Ozone therapy is an economical treatment that has bactericidal, fungicidal, and antiviral properties, besides promoting oxygenation and tissue regeneration, as well as anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and was used as a complementary therapy in this study.

Orthognathic surgery has long been successfully utilized to correct dentofacial deformities to help facilitate improved oral function and facial esthetics. The treatment, however, has been associated with a high degree of complexity and severe postoperative morbidity. More recently, minimally invasive orthognathic surgical procedures have emerged that offer potential long-term benefits such as less morbidity, a lower inflammation response, improved postoperative comfort, and better esthetic outcomes.

Since Bacillus Calmette−Guérin (BCG) is the only vaccine currently in use against TB, studies addressing the protective role of BCG in the context of inducible surface biomarkers are urgently required for TB control. Methods: In this study, groups of HIV-negative adult healthy donors (HD; n = 22) and neonate samples (UCB; n = 48) were voluntarily enrolled.

Introduction: Mini health technology assessment (HTA) reports have been used to support policy makers and health systems by providing a timely summary of scientific evidence. The objective of this meta-epidemiologic study was to evaluate the quality of reporting of mini-HTA reports published in Brazil.
Methods: An electronic search for all mini-HTA reports published between 2014 and March 2019 was conducted in the SISREBRATS and CONITEC databases.
Characterization of cardiovascular tissue geometry and mechanical properties of large animal models is essential when developing cardiovascular devices such as heart valve replacements. These datasets are especially critical when designing devices for pediatric patient populations, as there is often limited data for guidance. Here, we present a previously unavailable dataset capturing anatomical measurements and mechanical properties of juvenile Yorkshire (YO) and Yucatan (YU) porcine main pulmonary artery (PA) and pulmonary valve (PV) tissue regions that will inform pediatric heart valve design requirements for preclinical animal studies.

Mentoplasty or genioplasty is a simple procedure to enhance facial aesthetics. While usually considered simple, it might present certain difficulties during execution, especially when a minimally invasive approach is preferred. Drilling and cutting guides are a valuable tool to overcome such challenges but usually require larger incision and dissection to allow adequate positioning and bone rigid fixation.
