Problematic internet use (PIU) has drawn attention due to its potentially negative consequences on individuals' social and personal lives. At present, a consensus on diagnostic criteria for problematic internet use remains elusive, leaving uncertainty regarding its classification as a distinct mental disorder. Seroepidemiological studies allow an estimation of the number of people who have been exposed to the virus, as well as the number of people who are still susceptible to infection.
