This study aims to compare the effects of conventional surgical techniques and laser-assisted methods on salivary oxidative stress biomarkers following third molar extraction, in order to evaluate the potential benefits of laser surgery in reducing oxidative stress and promoting faster recovery. A total of 154 patients, aged 16-30, undergoing third molar extractions were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups: conventional surgery ( = 75) and laser-assisted surgery ( = 79).

PDT has high success rates, but various factors, can influence treatment response. This study investigates the clinical, histological, and molecular factors that affect the efficacy of methyl aminolevulinate PDT (MAL-PDT) for BCC and BD.

This study investigated the impact of hyponatremia and antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secretion corelated to clinical outcomes in these patients. We conducted a retrospective cohort study, including 118 pediatric patients, with a detailed sub-cohort analysis of 53 patients for ADH secretion markers.

Hydatid cysts are commonly located in the liver (primary site), followed by the lungs (secondary site). However, they are also found in less typical organs such as the spleen, kidneys, peritoneum, retroperitoneum, pancreas, gallbladder, and various other organs, as well as in striate muscles.

By transitioning from traditional 2D cell cultures to 3D systems, this approach overcomes the limitations of 2D cultures by more accurately replicating the tumor microenvironment. The method consists of producing homotypic and heterotypic spheroids using low-adherence agarose-coated wells, embedding these spheroids in agarose microwell arrays, and conducting immunohistochemistry (IHC) to analyze cellular and molecular profiles.

After the SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) outbreak, in 2020, Daughton proposed the implementation of a wastewater surveillance strategy that could determine the incidence of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) nationally. Individuals in various stages of SARS-CoV-2 infection, including presymptomatic, asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, can be identified as carriers of the virus in their urine, saliva, stool and other bodily secretions.

During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the intra-abdominal insufflation of carbon dioxide with secondary increase in intra-abdominal pressure can cause important hemodynamic consequences, like decreased cardiac output and blood pressure, as well as compensatory increase in heart rate. The purpose of this study is to evaluate changes in cardiovascular parameters during general anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

The current liberal indication for surgery in benign thyroid conditions led to a rising frequency of incidental thyroid carcinoma, especially low-risk papillary micro-carcinomas.
Methods: We selected a cohort of 148 patients with thyroid nodules by ultrasound characteristics and investigated them by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC)and prospective BRAF collection for 70 patients.
We conducted an epidemiological non-interventional cross-sectional and case-control study from 1 January 2023 until 26 May 2023 in Oltenia region, southwestern Romania. Throughout the research, 160 consecutive patients were included from two different clinical departments (1-Pneumology; 2-Diabetes and Nutritional Diseases). Subjects were voluntary adult individuals of any gender who expressed their written consent.

Studies have shown that adolescence and childhood are closely related to a high risk of periodontal disease, but the follow-up for periodontal health or damage at this age has been insufficiently appreciated until now. The aim of this study was to identify subgingival microorganisms using a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in a group of children and adolescents aged 7-17 years with and without cardiovascular disease.

A 9-year-old boy diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia and undergoing chemotherapy, was admitted with febrile neutropenia. During his admission, several violaceous plaques appeared on the upper extremities and anterior left hemithorax, which worsened and acquired a necrotic center. We performed a biopsy and histology showed a cutaneous infarction at the dermoepidermal and subcutaneous level.

The experiment used 128 Tetra SL hens at 35 weeks of age, which were divided into four groups and randomly assigned to four dietary treatments: a standard corn-wheat-soybean meal diet (C), standard diet containing 8% ground hemp seed (H), hemp seed diet containing 3% dried blackcurrant pomace (HB), and hemp seed diet containing 3% dried rosehip pomace (HR). The laying rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR), egg weight, and yolk weight were improved by the use of hemp seeds.

Methods: A clinical study by screening biochemical parameters and pulmonary function was carried out to evaluate behavioral risk factors in obstructive pulmonary disease associated with metabolic syndrome.
Results: Of the total of 70 patients included in the clinical study, 46 were men and 24 were women (χ = 3.
Cancer remains a significant global cause of mortality, irrespective of a country's level of development. Among all cancer types, gastrointestinal cancers claim the highest number of lives annually. This disease predominantly affects individuals in their 6th to 8th decades of life.

Periodontal diseases can affect children and adolescents and are manifested in the form of gingivitis, but also the early form of chronic periodontitis as well as aggressive marginal periodontitis associated with local or general factors. Early periodontitis is frequently undiagnosed by clinicians due to a lack of knowledge of the specific symptoms.

About 30% of GISTs are incidentally diagnosed and as they become symptomatic may be associated with bleeding, bowel obstruction or spontaneous rupture.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a middle-aged patient diagnosed with a giant gastric GIST, which presented for intermittent gastric outlet obstruction symptoms, and emphasize the major imagistic, histopathological, and therapeutic challenges that may be encountered.
This article explores the correlation between salivary biomarkers, such as glutathione peroxidase (GPX), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and superoxide dismutase (SOD), and their association with oral health for children in competitive sports. Saliva has emerged as a valuable resource for evaluating physiological and pathological conditions due to its non-invasive collection method and easy storage. This study examines the potential of GPX, TAC, and SOD as salivary biomarkers for assessing the impact of competitive sports on children's oral health.
