Cervical cancer has been and still is a major global health problem and a major treatment challenge for which surgical interventions have played a key role throughout the past century. In early stages (I/A2-II/B), where high-risk factors are not present, the efficacy of surgical and radiotherapy treatment has been considered equivalent with different (treatment modality specific) complications and quality of life consequences. Negative prognostic factors in early stages of the disease (pelvic lymph-node positivity) and in more advanced stages (parametrial and/or surgical margins' tumor involvement) forecast the deterioration of outlooks for good life expectancy.

Peritoneal carcinosis has historically been considered as inoperable, although the technique of its resesection together with high dose intraperitoneal chemotherapy potentiated by heat has been described decades ago. It has not became a widely practiced routine except in specialized centers - the complex technique, weakly standardized but resource demanding chemotherapy, lacking financial background and the many times questionable clinical benefit at a cost of high surgical load might have been the key factors. Refined technology, developing chemotherapy protocols together with growing clinical evidence are now more sharply delineating the range of indications where the procedure might be beneficial, increases survival, or is the only curative therapy.

Ticks are efficient vectors for transmitting pathogens that negatively affect livestock production and pose a risk to public health. In this study, Babesia and Theileria species were identified in ticks collected from cattle, sheep and goats from the Kassena-Nankana Districts of Ghana between February and December 2020. A total of 1550 ticks were collected, morphologically identified, pooled and screened for pathogens using primers that amplify a 560 bp fragment of the ssrRNA gene and Sanger sequencing.

The synthetic peptide SmAP (KLCEKPSKTWFGNCGNPRHCG) derived from DefSm2-D defensin α-core is active at micromolar concentrations against the phytopathogenic fungus and has a multistep mechanism of action that includes alteration of the fungal cell wall and membrane permeabilization. In Hungary, there is no actual ovarian cancer guideline, despite this disease being the most lethal gynaecologic cancer. An expert panel was created by the Hungarian Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists to prepare a recommendation for the reatment of ovarian cancer patients. This multidisciplinary expert group worked together during the first trimester of 2022 using the guidelines and recommendations of the European Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists (ESGO) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and created the updated recommendations.

The development of new strategies for achieving stable asymmetric membrane models has turned interleaflet lipid asymmetry into a topic of major interest. Cyclodextrin-mediated lipid exchange constitutes a simple and versatile method for preparing asymmetric membrane models without the need for sophisticated equipment.
