Although devices that directly regulate key biomolecules constituting inherent biological systems exist, no devices have been developed to control intracellular membrane architecture, contributing to the spatiotemporal functions of these biomolecules. This study developed a synthetic biomolecular device, termed inducible counter mitochondrial morphology (iCMM), to manipulate mitochondrial morphology, an emerging informative property for understanding physiopathological cellular behaviors, on a minute timescale by using a chemically inducible dimerization system.

The chemotherapeutic isothiocyanate sulforaphane (SFN) contributes to lipolysis through the activation of hormone-sensitive lipase and the browning of white adipocytes. However, the details concerning the regulation of lipolysis in adipocytes by SFN-mediated autophagy remain unclear.

Medical History: Mammography performed in June 2018 revealed an abnormal shadow on the left breast. Cytology from the 6-mm tumor in the left upper-outer quadrant revealed a malignancy.
Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related multiphenotypic sinonasal carcinoma (HMSC) is a recently described sinonasal tract tumor that is associated with high-risk HPV subtype infection. Despite histological features that are suggestive of a high-grade malignant tumor, the prognosis of HMSC is relatively good; however, the clinical features of this tumor are poorly understood. Here, we describe two patients with HMSC.

The downstream transcriptional factor of PERK, a major arm of unfolded protein response, regulates muscle differentiation. However, the role of growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible protein 34 (GADD34), one of the downstream factors of PERK, and the effects of ATRA on GADD34 expression in muscle remain unclear.

Methods And Results: The retrospective study included persistent AF patients who had AFMR (n = 136, left atrial (LA) volume index >30 mL/m and left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction ≥40%) or VFMR (n = 31, LV ejection fraction <40% or LV regional asynergy) and had undergone the initial AF ablation from April 2015 to December 2019. Baseline and 6 month follow-up echocardiography were performed to assess MR, LA, and LV sizes.
We search for a light Higgs boson (A^{0}) decaying into a τ^{+}τ^{-} or μ^{+}μ^{-} pair in the radiative decays of ϒ(1S). The production of ϒ(1S) mesons is tagged by ϒ(2S)→π^{+}π^{-}ϒ(1S) transitions, using 158×10^{6} ϒ(2S) events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant A^{0} signals in the mass range from the τ^{+}τ^{-} or μ^{+}μ^{-} threshold to 9.

The aim of this study was to reveal whether the DCB size fitting (1) angiographically-measured lumen diameter (Angio-lumen size), (2) intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-measured lumen diameter (IVUS-lumen size), or (3) IVUS-measured external elastic membrane (EEM) diameter (IVUS-EEM size) would be beneficial in restenosis occurrence.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective, single-center study included 231 de novo FP lesions in 165 patients with peripheral artery disease treated with IN.
Background/aim: Surgery remains the standard treatment for salivary gland carcinoma (SGC). Our study investigated the association between epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) status in recurrent/metastatic SGC and the effectiveness of treatment with cisplatin/carboplatin and 5-fluorouracil plus cetuximab (EXTREME).
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively collected 19 SGCs from patients treated with the EXTREME regimen.
Background/aim: The inflammation-based prognostic score (IBPS) has attracted attention recently as a prognostic biomarker for head and neck cancer patients. However, as the IBPS often changes after anticancer drug therapy, its independent prognostic value remains controversial. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the IBPS and prognosis in recurrent and/or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (RMHNSCC) treated with nivolumab, and investigate changes in the IBPS before and after nivolumab treatment.

In this study, we conducted tests of assimilative abilities and thermotolerance in comparison with morphological characteristics of six opportunistic species (Prototheca blaschkeae, Prototheca bovis, Prototheca ciferrii, Prototheca cutis, Prototheca miyajii, and Prototheca wickerhamii) along with Prototheca paracutis. Five of the seven species could be differentiated by physiological characteristics, but P.

Patients And Methods: Patients with unresectable advanced GC and recurrence after curative resection who received nivolumab monotherapy were included in the study. Survival was compared between patients who did and did not develop irAEs, and between those who continued and discontinued treatment due to irAEs.
Introduction: Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is one of the major critical complications after pancreatic resection. Recently, postoperative acute pancreatitis (POAP), a new concept for a pancreatic-specific complication following pancreatic resection, has been advocated, and its association with POPF has been reported. The present study examined the clinical features of POAP and identified the associations of POAP with POPF and other postoperative morbidities in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients undergoing pancreatic resection.

We have hypothesized that Raman spectroscopy can be used intraoperatively as a non-invasive label-free means of objective identification of the pelvic nerves, and we conducted a preliminary study by applying a newly developed handheld Raman spectrometer to surgical specimens.
Methods: Samples of nervous tissue, colon cancer tissue, and tissues from surrounding pelvic organs were obtained from 25 patients undergoing colectomy.
Some patients have an atypical form of branchio-oto-renal (BOR) syndrome, which does not satisfy the diagnostic criteria, despite carrying a pathogenic variant (P variant) or a likely pathogenic variant (LP variant) of a causative gene. P/LP variants phenotypic indices have yet to be determined in patients with typical and atypical BOR syndrome. We hypothesized that determining phenotypic and genetic differences between patients with typical and atypical BOR syndrome could inform such indices.

With the availability of these measurements, new avenues for future shape-function model-independent determinations of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{ub}| can be pursued to gain new insights in the existing tension with respect to exclusive determinations. The differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton energy, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared.

We hypothesized that LVA extent could predict non-responseto Pe AF catheter ablation in spite of multiple procedures.
Methods: This study included 510 patients undergoing initial ablation procedures for PeAF.
Background: Women experience more severe arrhythmogenic substrates. This study hypothesized that an extensive ablation strategy, such as linear ablation and/or complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) ablation in addition to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI-plus), might be effective for women, whereas the PVI alone strategy (PVI-alone) might be sufficient for men to maintain sinus rhythm. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis.
