Validation and cross cultural adaptation of the Italian version of the Harris Hip Score.

Introduction: The Harris Hip Score (HHS) is one of the most widely used health related quality of life (HRQOL) measures for the assessment of hip pathology: in spite of this, a validation study, and an official Italian version have not been provided yet. The aim of this study was to create an Italian valid and reliable version of the HHS.

Materials And Methods: The score was translated and modified in Italian; then 103 patients with different hip pathologies were evaluated using this HHS version and also with the WOMAC and the SF-12 questionnaires.

Long-term results of cementless anatomic total hip replacement in dysplastic hips.

This perspective study analyzes the long-term outcomes of cementless anatomic total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Between 1990 and 2004, 100 ABG total hip prosthesis were implanted in 87 patients with DDH. The average follow-up was 9 years (range 4-18 years).

Ten-year survivorship of the Anatomique Benoist Girard I total hip arthroplasty.

The Anatomique Benoist Girard (ABG) I total hip arthroplasty has been widely used in Europe since 1989. Two recent midterm reports have shown high rates of component failure secondary to polyethylene wear. To further investigate this issue, our study prospectively follows 157 consecutive primary total hip arthroplasties using the ABG I prosthesis at an average follow-up of 10 years.
