Ichthyosis follicularis, atrichia and photophobia syndrome (IFAP) is an X-linked inherited disease caused by pathogenic variants in the gene encoding the membrane-bound transcription factor peptidase, site 2 (MBTPS2). Clinical presentation includes ichthyosis follicularis, alopecia, photophobia and developmental delay. Hereditary mucoepithelial dysplasia (HMD) is a dominantly inherited disease characterized by keratitis, non-scarring alopecia, skin lesions including follicular keratosis, perineal erythema, and mucosal involvement.

The susceptibility of local head lice to permethrin, sumithrin, deltamethrin, and carbaryl was determined by laboratory bioassays in field-collected colonies. Head lice collected from the infested heads of children 6-12 yr old were tested within 3 h of collection. The longest survival of control insects in the laboratory was obtained by keeping them in the dark at 18 degrees C and 70-80% RH.

A patient of 4 years of age, male is presented, that suffered from generalized pustulous psoriasis. The small response to prednisone and the aggravation of the symptomatology motivated the use of etretinate, in the dose of 1 mg/kg/day during six months obtaining the remission. Two years later he was seen again having minimal lesions of periumbilical psoriasis, observing delay in the growth, and in the radiological exam: periostic separation in the inferior part of femur, modeling alteration of the metaphysis, diffuse demineralization, slender bone, and a bone age of one and a half year.

The fourth follow-up study of adolescent delinquent boys treated in a community-based program that combined job placement, remedial education, and psychotherapy indicates that the better overall adjustment of the treated group, compared to untreated controls, is maintained well into adulthood. It reaffirms the importance of developing sound, innovative means of reaching adolescents in crisis, and suggests the value of a full-scale replication of the original program.

Strategies for working with community groups must be developed if the principles of community mental health are to be put into practice. An experimental outpatient treatment program for adolescent delinquents that required the cooperation of two community groups, the school and businessmen, necessitated the development of certain procedures for mobilizing the groups around the implementation of treatment. The success of the program serves to highlight certain principles of working with community members.
