Article Synopsis
  • - Tissue nanotransfection (TNT) uses plasmids (Etv2, Foxc2, and Fli1) to enhance the formation of vasculogenic fibroblasts (VF) in ischemic skin of mice, promoting new blood vessel growth.
  • - In vitro studies show that human dermal fibroblasts exhibit increased endothelial gene expression upon EFF nanoelectroporation, with a link to higher ten-eleven translocase (TET) expression.
  • - The study demonstrates that TET activation is crucial for VF development in diabetic ischemic limbs, facilitating blood flow restoration and improved wound healing, especially since TET levels are usually lower in diabetic conditions.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ranks as the fifth most common neoplasm and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Current serum biomarkers for HCC surveillance and early diagnosis, particularly alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) the most commonly used marker, lack satisfactory sensitivity and specificity, highlighting an urgent need for more effective markers with higher accuracy for early HCC detection. The downregulation of melanoma-associated antigen D1 (MAGE-D1) transcription plays a crucial role in apoptosis and inhibits cancer cell proliferation when expressed ectopically.

Background: Psoriasis (Ps) is a disorder attributed to the immune system that involves inflammation of the skin and joints. Psoriasis is a multifactorial disorder in which genetic factors represent about 70% of the disease risk. This study aims to establish the correlation between the ERAP2 gene's single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs2910686 and rs2248374 with the susceptibility to Ps and/or psoriatic arthritis (PsA) among the Egyptian population.

Background: Patients with multiple myeloma are immunosuppressed due to both the disease itself and immunosuppressive therapies. Thus, when presenting with respiratory failure and pulmonary opacities, pneumonia must be considered. However, while rare, immunomodulating medications used in the treatment of multiple myeloma can also cause potentially life-threatening respiratory failure, a distinction which has important treatment implications.

Introduction: Between 5% and 20% of all combat-related casualties are attributed to burn wounds. A decrease in the mortality rate of burns by about 36% can be achieved with early treatment, but this is contingent upon accurate characterization of the burn. Precise burn injury classification is recognized as a crucial aspect of the medical artificial intelligence (AI) field.

The mussels are species with high socio-economic weights and are often used as bioindicators of biological and chemical contamination. In the field and aquaculture, they can intake microplastics during filter-feeding, and the microplastics can have a negative impact on their health, even at low concentrations. The effects of microplastics have yet to be fully examined on the blue mussel (Mytilus edulis), considering the factors of ageing and sorption of some polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), ubiquitous environmental contaminants.

Tissue injury to skin diminishes miR-200b in dermal fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are widely reported to directly reprogram into endothelial-like cells and we hypothesized that miR-200b inhibition may cause such changes. We transfected human dermal fibroblasts with anti-miR-200b oligonucleotide, then using single cell RNA sequencing, identified emergence of a vasculogenic subset with a distinct fibroblast transcriptome and demonstrated blood vessel forming function in vivo.

Fetal cutaneous wound closure and repair differ from that in adulthood. In this work, we identify an oxidant stress sensor protein, nonselenocysteine-containing phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (NPGPx), that is abundantly expressed in normal fetal epidermis (and required for fetal wound closure), though not in adult epidermis, but is variably re-induced upon adult tissue wounding. NPGPx is a direct target of the miR-29 family.
