Ribosomally synthesized and posttranslationally modified peptide (RiPP) pathways produce a diverse array of natural products. A subset of these pathways depends on radical -adenosylmethionine proteins to modify the RiPP-produced peptide. Mycofactocin biosynthesis is one example of an -adenosylmethionine protein-dependent RiPP pathway.
